This video has been enlightening. I WILL be sharing this video. Ppl need 2 understand from the delivery person side. Might not agree with the method, but at least there's an understanding. Far too often, I couldn't understand how these delivery drivers worked. As someone with SEVERE mental and mobility issues, I rely heavily on Amazon Prime. Far too often, my packages would be at the end of the porch, never being notified (doorbell/door knock) that a package was delivered. Even after complaining and having Amazon make a notation that packages should be placed on the porch, near the front door, as well as to knock.
@GoHerping4 ай бұрын
we get complaints for ringing/knocking so most drivers just don't at this point. yeah personally i pay attention if there's a note of customer disability, but i imagine not all drivers do. though it's also worth noting that probably half of Flex drivers don't even speak english, and I'm not sure if the app translates delivery notes or not

I've been doing Amazon Flex for about a month. In my situation, every shift I complete requires an additional hour and half of work beyond the "official time". For example if it's a 3 hour shift, it will take me 4.5 hours because I have to drive about 45 minutes to the pick up location and about 45 minutes home from the last delivery. So basically if it looks like the hourly rate is $25, it's actually only $17. If it looks like it's $21, it's actually $14. I can make more money per hour by doing Uber Eats in my neighborhood. In that situation I can start my shift from home and end my shift about 5 minutes away from home. Amazon Flex is okay, but I really don't understand why so many people think this is a great gig. I feel more like a low-paid employee rather than an independent contractor. And don't get me started on the block scheduling and pay algorithim.
@rjsfarm2534Ай бұрын
It’s only barely worth it for me when taking decent surge rates and my commute, loading, delivery, and return trip in is close to the block time. I’d say 75% of the time I can hit that mark. Sometimes you get no choice on the route.

I signed up for flex in march when I lost my job and I never got contacted by amazon, but interestingly enough some time in April i started noticing that everything I order on same day will get pushed to at least the next day and sometimes will show up 3 days late. I ordered 2 prime one day shipping items this Monday and they came TODAY (Friday). My warehouse must just be fucked or something because they never contacted me back about flex and the last 20 packages I have ordered have come 3-5 days late.

Please don't listen to this punk. He's giving Amazon Flex drivers a bad reputation. You don't just leave packages at a closed business at night and drive off like you don't care if they get stolen. Amazon doesn't hold it against you for having to return packages. You don't have to return packages immediately after your route, you have until 10 AM the next day to return them. You're only gigged if you return them late and that's usually if you're more than 24 hours late.
@braylens18224 ай бұрын
Wrong. I took packages back because I refused to work over my scheduled time because they started late because of storms and it went against me
@brotherpaulv4 ай бұрын
@@braylens1822 when I say returning packages I mean packages that are undeliverable. If you decided that you didn't want to deliver the packages then you shouldn't have taken the route. Not showing up for your route is only one strike against you, whereas not delivering packages is multiple strikes. There are also differences between the stations, some are more strict than others.
@Debra112 ай бұрын
I disagree with your comment. Trust that the customer/business will get their package and drop it off. It's a lot cheaper for Amazon just to credit the customer than returning a package because you didn't trust the package would be honorably received.

Hey Alex, as an Amazon delivery driver who works for a dsp, delivering 200-300 packages every day.... it does make a difference, maybe not to you, but it does to the drivers that deliver the bulk of the packages. We hear all the time about all the shit that flex drivers do that we have to pick up the slack and correct. It's like being told you are doing something wrong when it ain't because of you. Do not get me wrong, I have definitely cut corners and not listened to delivery notes from time to time, yes the app will tell you to do silly things, customers notes are completely Karens popping off, but it all matters. Flex drivers make it harder for those who do it full time as their job. Maybe consider trying to take the job a little more seriously. I highly enjoy being a delivery driver, I get to drive all day, work alone and listen to my music on blast while I talk to myself, and I get to be physically active while I'm getting to see some beautiful houses and met animals. Most of these things that you are stating in this video do actually have a huge impact, maybe not to you, but they do. Flex drivers have made delivering much more difficult because you can't take the extra 30 seconds to walk to their front door so you leave it at the garage, or you leave it in the lobby of the apartment complex. (I do understand having to return packages, but I am honestly sure you could probably just return them the next time you go for a shift, amazon probably won't care as long as it is within a day or two) with all this being said, maybe consider what consequences you are creating from your actions. If you don't want to take pride or do the job correctly, please find something else to do because it truly does matter, just maybe not to flex drivers. I love your videos and have been watching for years, but this one... this one is full of bad information and I do not like this one. 😕 I apologize, but it is what it is.

A tip for people dealing with dogs often on deliveries: you can get a cheap spray bottle and fill it with vinegar and water. If you spray it at a dog they don't like it and will usually back off but it won't do any real harm so no need to worry about the owner getting mad. This is more for if you're in a van since they can't always just drive up a driveway to toss the package at the door. If you just use water it won't work on all dogs since some don't care or like getting wet anyway. The vinegar smells bad and also can sting which is why you water it down (plus you save money that way)

I don't think it's unreasonable to leave packages at the leasing office. More often than not I take them to the front door, but there are times when those apartments and trailers aren't labeled properly and I just can't find the place. Call text customer no reply. If I'm near the warehouse I return it, but sometimes I'm an hour away from the warehouse at end of shift. So returning them the next day I have to find something to do for an hour between 10 and 11am. It's such a hassle sometimes.

My biggest issue was that I kept getting sent to houses with locked gates so it was impossible to be within range. Can't really avoid support at that point because of the range issue :/ Though after the second support call it seemed to glitch and stopped needing you to be within range of the door

Turn your phone on airplane mode, it will give you the option to place the circle near you. Turn it off and swipe delivered. Put the parcel at the entrance of the gate. 8/10 the client learns to leave the gate open next time theyre expecting an order

@MrSlots777 I will try this if I have the problem again. Thanks so much!

So what happens to the packages that have a password and can’t deliver because of the customer is not there??

Greetings. .. Random question: When signing up for Amazon Flex, should you use your personal Amazon account or create a new account specifically for Amazon Flex? .. Thanks in Advance.

Isn't it illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving in usa. It is in uk.
@girlygirl18903 ай бұрын
If you look at the base rate PER PACKAGE, you will only get paid about $2.00 for EACH delivery. Think about the fact that if you have 37 packages, and you only get paid $77.00. Then $77.00 divided by 37 is only..... (that sucks.)

Where is the tip that makes my city have openings for flex? I've been waiting almost three weeks and still no openings for flex OR for spark q.q

it is simply down to patience lol

It takes months of wait-list for flex in a moderately busy market at this point. Even a year ago I waited 2+ months. Hang in there

How are you dropping it at leasing if it’s outside the geofence without calling drivers support
@GoHerpingАй бұрын
funnily, the geofence is at the leasing office the majority of the time. I assume previous drivers already got it updated. otherwise, you can turn on airplane mode

So what happens if they start your shift late because of storms? Do you have to work over your shift time to deliver?
@seahawks11854 ай бұрын
Shift gets cancelled and you get paid for the shift.

honestly considering delivering since I'm in a population dense area and figured I could get nearby routes. That and I need my own hours but don't feel comfortable doing a lot of uber stuff

I experience it, I have a 48 min away to deliver a package and I don’t know what to do because it was my first time. So I was speeding the whole drive 😭 and I manage to deliver it around 38 mins and 46 mins back home. 💔

Good video. I'm just wondering why you don't factor in potential rain when delivering. I don't deliver to steps vs. front door which has a porch. That is being lazy and needs a ding on your quality level.

i do the bare minimum i can to keep my standing high, any additional time i spend is better off being used for anything that isn't driving for amazon lol

it'll be lower since it requires extra energy and more expensive parts. drivers are given the same blocks regardless of vehicle

Ironic that my Amazon delivery got dropped while I was watching this video. I have a designated drop spot so drivers can quickly drop and go. We recently got put on a route, deliveries were through USPS and UPS previously. I appreciate my drivers. No more crushed packages and destroyed merchandise like with UPS and USPS.
