5:25 I’m 90% sure that means this location is Blackgate. The Arkham Ward was the end-goal location in Arkham Origins Blackgate, as it’s where Bane was locked up. So it’s probably just a really deep cut reference, like Bolton and TYGER being there after nearly impossible to find Easter eggs. That seems to be a running theme with this game. Plus, why would they have a place called the Arkham Ward in Arkham Asylum? Seems a little redundant.

well in an interview with the developers they mentioned they were inspired by the 2022 movie, including how it incorporated the batarang on the batsuit with the bat logo on the chest of the suit being the batarang, so it is possible they were inspired by that too

It simply took that long for fully contained/mobile standalone VR hardware (ala Meta Quest) to get to the point that it can run PCVR circa ≈2019-2020 class games. 🤷 The Quest hardware simply wasn't powerful enough to run a game like this before. Assassin's Creed: Nexus tried something of similar scale on the Quest 2 and while it was a totally great game and with SHOCKINGLY good graphics for the hardware, you could definitely still see the graphical & mechanical seams in places from having to push that headset to its absolute freaking LIMITS.

It would completely ruin the game, making such an effort pointless. 🤷 With proper from the ground up made for VR games like this, trying to translate the experience into a 2D TV/monitor game is either outright impossible or would completely ruin the game. Even in the BEST cases like the Half-Life: Alyx NoVR mod, it's still a soulless shell of an experience compared to the actual game in its native VR. Game design for VR vs traditional flatscreen gaming is just very, VERY fundamentally different. 🤷

Also, when batman dropkicks the goon after gliding, you can see the stars above his head meaning there's gonna be ground takedowns which are most likely executed fully physically instead of pushing a button because the dodge mechanic shows you have to actually swing your arms to the side to dodge. The choke mechanic had a slight pause after he grabbed his shoulders (if it was an automatic animation, there would be no pause + that's rly jarring in vr), and the batarang being slotted in your chest instead of needing a button to select So they're really zeroing in on physical movement immersion.

🤦... Meta funded the entire game and developed it first party completely in-house with one of their many fully owned first party game studios (Camouflaj). Aka, without it being a Quest exclusive THIS GAME (nor any other Arkham game!!!) EVER GETS MADE ALL!!! This wasn't an "either/or" situation. It was either Meta makes this game for Quest specifically to help move headsets (it's the most likely free pack-in game for the Quest 3S also releasing in October) OR no game of any kind gets made at all. This is literally no different than being upset that you can't play Gran Turismo on your Xbox. 🤷

Also, the Quest 3S releases this October for $300 (& likely w/ a free copy of Batman: Arkham Shadow to boot) meaning the price of entry into current gen VR gaming really isn't that unreasonable at all. @@Moonking_Is_Back I don’t hate unique things I’m just saying all things considered there is no reason for a mainline Arkham game to be this hard to get for most people I understand them wanting it to be a VR game and like I said in VR it looks awesome but Arkham Batman is probably one of the most popular Batman universes. And it looks like it could be very easily ported over to PSVR 2 or maybe even the Quest 2 but that one I doubt a little more or, like I said they make a port like Fnaf Help Wanted to play it on VR or console which, out of all the things to happen I think is most likely so that Meta doesn’t lose much money on it going to another VR but still would get money from licensing it. But it’s Meta so I’m doubting they would do that. All I’m saying is there are ways for this to not be exclusive and hard to get for most Arkham fans without buying a new VR for at least $500 for only five exclusives so far only a few of which seem like they would have the overlap with the Arkham community they can and some probably would but they aren’t really similar games at all except for maybe one or two. But again my point is that if you can’t afford to spend another $500, especially if you already have PSVR 2, you won’t be able to play the game and this version of Batman is just so popular at this point it’s very frustrating when it feels like it could easily run on what people already own which is a problem in my opinion and why I’m annoyed about I don’t hate it, it looked awesome, but I feel it should go to at least go to console or another VR console.
