5:51 - It seems insane to think of at a moment like that, but the boy almost seems as much embarrassed as sickened or scared. Gore and horror aside, he seems to be reacting like "I shouldn't see her like this! I'll be scolded!" as though she were alive and just out of her dress. If it was the character rather than the young actor reacting this way, you could logically see that mix of emotions in the midst of processing horror and grief.

One comes from the Japanese cut of Godzilla 1984 after he picks up the train car. In the 1985 cut, he looks at the passengers through the windows and then throws it down, but in the Japanese version, he walks with it in hand for a moment and you see his reflection passing by a heavily mirrored building before actually dropping it. The reflection was cut from the American release, but I thought keeping it added a creepy atmosphere. One of the other creepy moments comes from GMK where he's passing through the city and the woman on the ground looks up at him and screams, getting his attention as he abruptly stops and turns his head and directly attacks them with his atomic breath. Aside from attacking the military, it's one of the few, if only moments in a Godzilla film where he directly targets people.

The thing that scared me the most in the Godzilla franchise came from Final Wars. You see, when I was about 5 or 6 years old, I was watching Final Wars in my grandparents room. I've never seen the movie before, so it was a new Godzilla movie that I need to watch. In the beginning of the 2nd act (More specifically when Akira Takarada, Xilian X, and the Xilian leader are in the TV interview thing) I was minding my own business just watching the movie, then when Gordon shoots Akira his head splits open. Now days, this doesn't scare me as much, but back then, this terrified me and every time I watched this movie, I would cove my eyes and ears.

Also, here's a freaky scene from Godzilla: King of the Monsters: King Ghidorah regrowing his third head. Good God, that scene was DISGUSTING! Anyone who's familiar with body horror (e.g. The Thing, Parasyte) should be freaked out by Ghidorah growing one of his heads, with said head being covered in a placenta-like substance before being torn by the main head (Ichi). And when he roars, you can see a cross in front of him as the island burns, which to me looks like a reference to the Book of Revelations or Dante's Inferno. You can tell from that scene already that Ghidorah is not from Earth AND is the closest thing to the Devil in the MonsterVerse.

Great idea for a list. People forget that the original Gojira is a depressing, dark and claustrophobic horror film along the lines of Night of the Living Dead. Clearly, some of that has lingered on in some of its descendants, in spite of the infusion of huge amounts of camp when it became a franchise. Shin Gojira is the only worthy successor to the original.

So, when I was little I grew up watching almost every single Godzilla film from 1954-1975 on VHS. And the film Godzilla Vs. Hedorah AKA Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster (1971) never really scared me as a kid. In fact, for me, it’s the single most nostalgic movie ever!!!! Though, that being said, I can still understand how it would scare some kids.
@christopheralbistur21334 жыл бұрын
Biollante attacking humans using her vines was scary. I got to admit Destoroyah was scary but I love the design of him. It makes him so creepy, pure evil and very demonic looking. A Meganulon attacking two humans was pretty terrifying, then it emerges from the small cocoon becoming a dragonfly. Later it was flying around the sky and then it swoops down out of nowhere scaring the little boy and causes him to run to his bed and hide underneath the covers. GMK Godzilla was pretty goddamn terrifying and pretty amazing for a pure evil Kaiju. In my all time favorite Godzilla movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters he appears in front of Monarch team and then everything went dark then suddenly Godzilla swims fast scaring them and give me, my family and my friends a jump scare.

Nice list, good and true point at then end. I grew up mostly with the Showa Godzilla with one triple feature containing Invasion of the Astro-monster, Ebirah, Horror of the deep and Destroy all monsters, with a double feature nicknamed the Gigan video, since it has Godzilla vs Gigan and Godzilla vs Megalon, and with another double feature having Son of Godzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla. So the Showa era is my favourite, with Showa Mechagodzilla from Terror of Mechagodzilla being my favourite, but i do love the rest of the Godzilla movies, and the rest of the kaijus. So what i found creepy/scary as a child, was the deaths of the aliens, with the face being peeled off, in Terror of Mechagodzilla. I think that i also found the scene with Kumonga, when pretending to be dead, and then spitting a dart in Godzilla's eye, in Son of Godzilla , scary. I would agree with most of your list being creepy. Anyway, have a good day/night.
