Ok, actual comment now. One thing I do as a very mediocre player is intentionally follow the lead of any teammate who's doing well. This is especially valid if I'm struggling in that match. Then, I'll look for the guardian at the top of our team's leaderboard, and just follow, or play-off, him/her. It really can be a game changer.

A tip for solo play: encourage teamwork. If your teammate makes a great play that clinches the round and they’re in team chat, tell them! “Great job awesome recovery!”, etc. Validating and acknowledging good play goes miles to encourage more team play in future rounds, even with random players

I really love this new trials revamp. I have not played in 3 months. Solo Queued 107 matches this week went 30 wins and 74 losses. But I loved every minute of it. And at the end went on a 4 game win streak and I won a ( 3 v 1) 2 rounds in a row.. after one of are teammates quit. I earned 6 Ascended shards. Bravo Bungie I'm gonna live in that solo queue, and get better👍

Same. I felt a lot better after watching a top game designer give a presentation on solo gamers in mmo's. There are studies showing mmo's have between 35-50% solo players. You'd never know it from the loudmouths who constantly comment that you need to have friends to play. I play with clanmates sometimes, but have zero friends who play, so I main the solo experience. In more than 6k hrs of gameplay, I've soloed GM's, all dungeons, triple gilded unbroken (and dredgen), went max comp rank every season (since freelance), and had a blast the whole time. I played literally hundreds of matches in trials last weekend, and I can't properly express to you how excited I am to try out the freelance version of trials! It's going to be a painful experience, but man is going to be a good kind of pain. Plus cayde was right. There will be a ton of loot!

Weird one that builds on filling out your loadout and weapon choice - You can leverage a weapon *even if you don't get kills with it*. I'm not a great sniper, but since I wasn't making much use of my sidearm, I switched to a sniper when appropriate because it changed the behavior of the enemy team just because they had the threat of getting sniped. Not only did we do better but I got some choice picks despite my potato aim. I put on Jotunn for the lols for a couple matches, and even going against players competent and avoiding it, I used that avoidance to catch them out with grenades or primary fire. Just because a weapon doesn't yield you the highest kill count, that doesn't mean it's not useful to the team or for winning (good bow players can tell you this night and day too).
@Julian-rt9qs
@Julian-rt9qs 3 жыл бұрын
That's a smart play. not many do stuff like this. I've done this a few times myself and you're totally right. It's amazing how you can change a team's behavior just by being a POTENTIAL threat with your sniper.

Awesome video. My tip would be to not be afraid to use off-meta weapons like GL's and bows if you can make them mesh with your teammates. A friend of mine used to run sniper sidearm and absolutely destroy. When we played against a team of campers a few months ago, he pulled out Monarche and it allowed us to get picks way easier. If we're playing against shotgun apes, he'll pull out Telesto or another fusion and the rest of us will use Crimson. Another friend of mine uses Rat King and Salvagers and he can make it work. A different friend was running the seasonal bow with dragonfly last weekend and it let him pull off a 1v2 clutch. What you use doesn't really matter. Build your load outs to counter your enemies' weapons, even if it means getting a little weird sometimes.

One tip I'd add, an old one from Battlefield Days. Suppressive Fire. May be a situational tip but it's been good for me. If you know where the enemy is coming from you can pre-fire their pathway making them change routes to take longer or wound/kill them as they push an area. Had someone die next to me and buddy, I suppressed while they rezd and got a kill in the process. But it's also prevented quick pushes in the past. Very situational, but can help.

Following alongside the callouts, don't be afraid to give a straight up sports announcer broadcast about every move the enemy makes around your dead body, it helps them visualize their every move and not be glued to their radar the entire time. Also, alongside the "not breaking off on your own", sometimes if you can play smart and safe, a good flank can flip a stalemate match into a quick win.

I played a bunch solo last weekend and not once did I hear anyone else in voice chat. I'm nice too. :( The amount of info you have to decipher with no comms makes it so much more hectic, and my old man brain can't keep up very well. Played with a buddy on Monday and it was so much more relaxing just having someone else to communicate what was happening. I recommend trying out voice with your other solo teammates, if they end up being dicks that match then just opt out and try again the next. That little extra chat makes Trials less stressful and that makes it more fun. :D

One tip I have is to change up your strategy sometimes. If you do the same thing every round then the other team will learn what to expect from you and prepare accordingly. By changing it up you can catch them by surprise. I've won many a game by holding back for the first 3-4 rounds then once they get comfortable I go in with a rush and spank them because they weren't ready for it. Being predictable then suddenly becoming unpredictable is the biggest surprise you can take advantage of. Especially against 3 stacks because they likely think they have you all figured out being mic'd up talking about how bad your strategy is.

As a solo player who occasionally runs with clan mates when they wanna run. TYPE FAST AS HELL. If I was running solo and I died, I did everything I could to type what I could to help in team chat,even if they don't type back or anything, they will see it. This clutched me up a couple rounds because I was able to warn teammates what was on my body and what ammo they had left

I rarely fall for these sponsors like manscaped or the metal wallet thingy, but those glasses made me cave. I constantly have the problem of headaches and eye dryness due to screens. Hopefully the glasses I just bought help. Thanks, Fallout! (Yes I’m aware I sound like a bot stfu) 🚶‍♂️

I have to voice my tentative and situational disagreement to rule number 10. I will always remember this one game. It was right down to the wire and I was the only one left. It wasn't last weekend, but it was on burnout. I was going for a revive but I was being chased so I popped S&S and threw it behind me, then proceeded to get both revives. We won the game.

Yesterday I managed to turn a round from a 1v3 into a win, not neccessarily by being good at PvP (my aim and positioning is atrocious) but by just rotating around the map. Basically, we were on Distant Shore, one of our teammates ran straight to the enemy spawn at C and died, my other teammate and I ran into the tunnel area, I used my rift to peek around the corner, saw all 3 enemies around it, and decided that NOPE, not going there. My teammate rushed in and died as well, but got one of them in the area where the capture point is, by that time I was already running from River to C and managed to revive my dead teammate that died at the start, while the enemies revived their dead buddy, then I manage to kill one of them with my scout rifle, see one of them camping next to the ghost waiting to res, I throw my solar grenade in there, somehow get another kill with it, but die as well. My teammate revives me, their last dude revives one of them, then my teammate threw a glacier grenade onto our dead teammate, ressing by *falling through a gap between the ice* and then they both killed the remaining enemies. The most fun Trials round I ever had, and according to these tips I played well without even realizing.

If a player is exploiting a weakness, adapt very quickly. If that peacekeepers titan swaps to riskrunner for your stag arc buddy combo. Don't sit on that, possible switch loadout before too many rounds go by. Sure you might be down abilities, but it's better than getting boned by your own build.

Pro Tip for solo queue - stop leaving matches after losing the 1st round. I'd love to see penalties for frequent chickens because every other solo queue match had someone depart the match. At least I had a couple nice dance-offs.

I have never played Trials before and want to get into it, but could you elaborate a bit more on the loadouts please and thank you? I understand what you mean by Short (eg Shotgun), Medium (eg Pulse), and Long (eg Sniper), but what weapons and perks would you recommend? What are some example weapon loadouts that you all find success with? Thanks again.

This probably don’t apply to most people soloing, but if you’re good at rotating or is playing a fast moving class, you can always fake a flank on the enemy team by going the long way around. Assuming your teammates doesn’t play like idiots by engaging enemy head on without cover or running toward a sniper glint like flies to rotten food, very often you can bait the enemy team into giving up a strong position and that’s how I got my solo flawless within 10 games of trials. Literally run around and not get killed, and the enemy will try to collapse on you which very often means them giving up their strong position to chase you and thus giving your shitty teammates a better opportunity to win.

A good tip for average solo player is if you see a teammate thats cracked, become his shadow stay close... more often than not you will be a good cleanup after him. also people need to learn importance of heavy and understand that to block a rez you dont have to ape the enemy but a simple nade to the rez will give you great time to reposition closer.

I’m not very good, but I have a funny blueberry story… I got picked off in the middle. Right by heavy. The other two guys had a 2v1 by the tunnel toward outside. The one genius teammate left the 2v1 toward middle. I assumed he was going to revive me… nope. He ignored my orb, and grabbed heavy. Teammate one got killed, so now it’s a 1v1. Dumbass got himself stuck on the ground and didn’t even get his heavy shot off… team wipe. I couldn’t believe it.

Might be a controversial tip, but here we go. If you get into a 1v3 situation, and you are not confident at all (like 0 % confident) that you will win the round, kill yourself to end the round quicker. Oftentimes, a good team will camp the rezs and try to farm super energy out of the last person alive (by not pushing too much, keeping good spacing). Sure, you will also get super energy, but none of your teammates will and the rest of the enemy team will top off their super/abilities.

Another tip i'd love to add that pretty much goes on with going after the other teams loner is... Literally... people need to learn when to push! I've played games where the opposing team is passive and the moment our team strikes first blood. The team just sits there instead of pushing... Like team push!

My question to you is why does most people always go to the kill box? Like this week its the tunnel or even the waterfall cave when heavy comes in to play. Do I just hang out with them an die or flank an die alone?

A tip for solo players (be it pretty scummy) While queueing in orbit you can back out really quickly when you see that you match a 3 stack. I know its p scummy but if you are going for flawless this is a useful tip to even the playing field and match only other solo players. Might as well abuse it before bungie adds something that hides players in queue.
