You made a very good point about saving battery by turning down the refresh rate. I have ordered mine and have been watching reviews of the 16-inch MBP all day, but absolutely no other reviewer mentioned it before. Listening to Johnathan Morrison's interview with Phil Shiller, it doesn't seem like a 14" is coming anytime soon. Most people that buy a high spec 13" buy it specifically for the size instead of a much more bang for the buck 15.4" and owning both I can definitely see why. With the 16" the display bezels and forehead did shrink but not by a crazy amount, and thus the whole body had to get larger to fit a 0.6" larger display. It seems that if Apple put a larger display in the same 13" body it most likely would only go up from 13.3" to 13.6" or so (if bezels stay the same as 16"). With the 15.4" you're already using a much larger device overall and that extra size and weight doesn't matter much.

The Razer advanced has a RTX 2080 in it, you can upgrade the SSD and RAM, has built in HDMI and you won't need to carry around a bag full of dongles. I mean, I own a 2018 MBP and it was fine until I moved more into live motion graphics and content creation ( C4D, blender, Resolume, Touch designer etc. ) Hindsight now nags me that I should have bought a Razer and if AMD starts making chips anywhere near to the 3950x for laptops the MBP will stop being a serious contender for any pro video 'on the go' work to be honest ( I mean, it already has in some respects ) After 2 decades of using Apple products though my next laptop will not be a MBP at this rate. Not a chance. The new studio computer I'm building is already PC based, I looked at the new Mac Pro and was like, no f***ing way I'm I dumping that kind of bank on a studio machine with a basic spec like that.

bill borez Thank you for the reply. And you make a great point because I would upgrade the Advanced model with more ram for sure. I had been holding out on a laptop till this one dropped. It is nice. I used an older Mac book pro for the longest time for on the road and what not. One of the things for me is that I wanted to do some light live-streaming but the MBP couldn’t handle it, but it was an older model so I don’t blame it. I think I may go Razer on this one.

If you need heavyweight graphics capabilities and upgradability then the Razor is easily the best choice over a MBP. If you need the sleekness of OSX then it's a MBP. Personally Windows is more than capable nowdays though.

Max! Thanks for this series on the new 16 MacBook Pro. It looks pretty good so far. I need new editing setup for 4K video and photo editing. I do pro work with 3 Sony full frames. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new iMac but now I’m wondering if I should grab the new 16 and use it until the iMac gets updated with new graphics and then sell the MacBook 16. I would upgrade to the 5500M for future proofing. But I was able to edit (albeit footage off an iPhone) at 4K60fps on my old 2014 MacBook Pro 15” with almost zero lag. I now have the 2019 15” i9 with the RX460 whatever card and it’s blazing fast on Mac OS. If you’re going to buy one, i recommend the i9 model though.

@@MartinVit you can't attack people like that - I'm a developer for over 15 years (not counting in when I started learning, but when I started actually working) and I also loved butterfly over the scissor mechanism - butterfly feels more like an actual tactile mechanical switch, where scissor mechanism feel like a linear mechanical switch with literally no feedback - that awful mushy feeling. I have old MacBooks, I have the new 15" inch, and I have both Apple Keyboard 1 and 2, and my order of preference is always - keyboard with Cherry MX Blue (currently HyperX Alloy), butterfly, and then Apple Keyboard 2. If they had butterfly on 16" I would buy it right away (since I often use it on the go), but this really makes me rethink the purchase.

@@nitrowad I'm programming over 30 years and now my favorite switches are CHERRY silent on my desktop. I had a macbook pro since 2011 - which had good keyboard. Since it was stolen I had to purchase new one - 2017 model which had that lowprofile keyabord which I have never able to get used to it. I was doing so much errors and the keyboard just were not providing good response. And that was not the only the problem - any microscopic dust were blocking keys from going back - it literally was stucking and I was treating the mac with good way - no eating on it etc. - just traveling and you just cannot avoid dust going in. I have now 3 days macbook pro 16" with the new keyboard and it is SO MUCH releafe typing on it - I'm able to type on it without errors - it has very good feedback and accuracy. I hope - apple will never ever get back to that version.

The last Macbook Pro I bought was the 2015 model and I just couldn’t pull the trigger on the later models cause of that horrible keyboard and the annoying throttling issues. In my opinion the joke Apple made on the 1-month old 2019 version buyers, is worse than it seems... Not only they tricked 2019 15inch customers that bought it in the last months, but they also tease them destroying the known Apple value on the 2nd hand market, of this recent product! And we are talking about a brand new model, since the 2019 has come out in summer, so this is deeply disruptive! This is serious planned obsolescence! Market misleading! Selling a PRO, upgraded product, that is dismissed after only 3 months! Now they sell an even more powerful machine at the SAME and even LOWER PRICE?? I would have accepted it if it was at a higher price! I CAN’T think about people who customized the 15inch model to the 16inch specs (like ssd etc)!!!!! So now it’s not even possible to sell a 2019 15" inch, 3 month old model, making it a ghost version: the most loosing product value of all time! It's perceived value will be match less than the new entry level 16 model of course, and we are talking about pro customers and pro line product!!! You kidding me? I feel really teased and tricked as a customer. They should have noticed the customers somehow or at least skipped the 2019 version update... 🤣 We actually made a list of everything we wanted to test before we shot the video, and had the surround and frequency test on there so we can be more subjective with the speakers and test out the subs. 👍

in iceland it is so expensive normal macbook pro 16 inch it casting $5000. i decided upgrade it will goes on $8000 full upgrade . is it is not possible pay all in one time . i have to pay for one year so this is could be cast about $9000 it is not easy . i am using for photography and video editing . i bought macbook pro 2013 but git problems with screen stain . i use everything it didn't works so right now i am thinking about macbook pro and imac pro . you are apple user . please give a advice which one is better

Thanks we tried lol! Most of these videos take a few hours to record and are about 15min long and then we cut as much as we can to make them as short as possible while keeping same info. Some have been almost 20min then turned into a 12. We try to make these the best we can so we appreciate your support and watching those ads to help fund us! 👍
