The 150 Case Road Locomotive pulling 3 John Deere plows, 36 bottoms total through the mud in the rain. We keep tying plows together and can’t hold the big dog back.

The power doesn't impress me as much as the fact it can maintain traction

Now its time to make one 4 times bigger one if the 150hp case can be built why not a 450hp case traction engine

The piston looks very small in comparison with the rest of the machine! What is the cubic capacity of it? These videos really get my mechanical heart pumping!

I think they were 14 by 14 bore and stroke.
@francisbarnett320 Жыл бұрын
@@erandy0240 That's just over 2155 cubes, but as it's a double acting design you should double that! That's over 12 x 350 small blocks!

How many bottoms 36 looks like 24. Can any one tell which is right.

I'd like to know what this thing can do compared pound for pound against a new tractor.

That is an interesting question. 150 hp diesel weighing the same as the steam engine going as slow
@jeffdetwiler3 жыл бұрын
Even the 450hp Big Bud 4wd tractors could only pull 20 bottoms if I remember correctly. The torque at only 200rpm that the 150 runs at is in the thousands. All from a single 14x14 single cylinder bore & stroke. Hands down steam wins the day.

@@jeffdetwiler From what I've seen on another video, this beast showed over 5,000 foot-pounds of torque on the brake before they had issues with the belt.
@jeffdetwiler3 жыл бұрын
phoenix15477 yes that is correct~~ that new belt was rated for 200hp I believe...and they were bumping its limits at over 180hp and folks were starting to stand back!! It was impressive.

Why do you need people standing on the plow? To raise and lower the bottoms at the end of the field?

You will notice there is no PTO or any solid shaft connection to the equipment. This was in the early days of mechanical power pulling the farm equipment .

When you guys gonna put a real load on it? It still doesn't sound loaded. 🤔

literally dropped all the plows at the same time and it didn't even change tone. just kept pulling
