Can you give me a timestamp where it mentiones the messed up german version? This damn censorship for “gore” was going on until very recently, like 2013 or so. Censorship for forbidden symbols like swastikas and the old “Reichskriegsflagge” (the flag the Nazis used for Germany). I think only a few years ago they allowed a wolfenstein game to display those. I remember how I got a american “return to castle wolfenstein” for DOS so I can play that game!

Every TF2 texture isn't hand painted. There were made digitally and then brush like strokes were digitally added on them to give the feel of 60s design. And that was something that Valve only said they did in an interview about the release of TF2. Most of the textures since then do not have this detail which is why a lot of people say that early TF2 looked better than later TF2.

I imagine the USA is crossed out since the big ol' portal event from HL1 was located in the USA, meaning that's where the aliens invaded from and attacked at first, and with the USA having a perceived super strong military, they dealt with that first. I imagine the USA is probably a scorched wasteland, or there's literally just nobody left in it and it's one big ghost town. Maybe people do exist in the USA still, but it's crossed out because it has such a strong Combine presence that the Vances and Co. can't do their rebellious operations there due to the fact that it was the epicenter of the invasion and thus it would be a guaranteed failure if they tried anything.

Another fun fact: if you don't count Half-Life's Hazard Course, we never jump forward within Gordon's point of view. We always see everything he sees, and jump cuts happen only when he loses consciousness or G-Man puts him in stasis. That means, if Half-Life 3 happens eventually, it must start at the same moment as Gordon takes the crowbar in HL:Alyx.

6:01 believe it or not half life alyx is competition in a way. the game it was competing with was a vr game titled boneworks. for those who don't know, boneworks has a fully body vr set up along with a fully interactable world. stuff like grabbing and shoving enemies is possible in boneworks, and reloading is a manual action instead of a button press. stress level zero, the boneworks developers, showed an early build of their game off to valve. this build was rumored to heavily impact half life alyx development. slz made a believable vr world in a way valve never though was possible at the time. pardon me for my incorrect usage of the word "competition" i just didn't know a better word to use

Another fact is Half-Life is with Doom the two only games that has millions of fans still has modders that creates maps and new levels and such or even make the game more gore-ish like brutal Doom and brutal Half-Life. Half-Life has simply an interesting story/lore which is really captivating . There are three wishes i would like that comes true is ; 1) having the actual game that was meant to be as Half-Life 2 with the cremators and the more horrific/darker aspect . 2) Hope someone will really make what real fans as me are longing for the Half-Life 2 : Episode 3 3) The making of a live action show
