Excommunication was the best thing that ever happened to me up to that point in my life. Being shunned and cut off from everything that was oppressive in my life removed all the internal barriers that I'd built to be a faithful member of the church. It was an entirely positive experience for me.... and it was devastating to my abusive parents.... I was set free and never looked back

Time frame of her age around 21 she is now married and very happy 36 years old. She was married September of 2023 I told them as long as they are happy me and her mother agree

I feel like I got gut punched, thinking about the horrible burdens he’s endured. We are born as who we are. We don’t invent our core identity. The only choices he has are between honesty and freedom versus self denial, self annihilation and living a lie. God bless him and his family. ❤️

I'm having difficulty reconciling something. Cody & Teresa were in my ward in Keller, TX in 2003 ... I'm pretty sure anyway. But the info I found says he was born in 1985. If he were born in '85, then he would have only been 18. So is his birth year wrong, or am I wrong with when he lived in Ft. Worth?

People choose Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company! Mark Twain 1) Heaven is filled with joy and happiness, no evil! 2) Joy and happiness are said to be good 3) Too much of a good thing is gluttony, a bad thing! Given these three statements are correct, wouldn't logic dictate that Heaven is a gluttony, a bad thing, where no bad thing can reside?! Choosing ones company's beginning to look pretty good about now!

One persons made up thoughts are another persons reality! How does one avoid the trap... Logic is one option! Denial is another! But which attempts to be the more objective of the two? I can very easily hear the same comment directed at Jesus, at his trial, just before they crucified him!

Knowing the truth no matter what will bring light - although at times uncomfortable. The Holy Ghost according to the Bible will teach you truth, until a newer truth is revealed. The fake Melchizedek priesthood is not needed as you can still bless people according to your faith and the faith of the sick and afflicted. Women have the same ability to Bless others. Love is the only answer. All else has no bearing. Blessings Cody

Interesting how much easier it was for him to leave because his whole life wasn't tied up in Mormon connections. From the cult's point of view, it was a failure of milieu control.

Yes, I did listen to some , then I made a comment, which some seemed to get offended, lol , there are just so many of these stories, it’s nothing new or different anymore, n my opinion, I now really would love to hear from the wives of the gay amen who of America out , as we just nev e r h e a r f r o m t h em, hopefully john will reach out to some and interview them! How about gay people have no idea what it's like for someone to lie to them about who they are, ruin our lives, and change our dreams forever. Come on! I'm really sick of hearing that end of the story. There is a far worse and debilitating end which is never shared on this channel. Talk about suicide rates, depression, the kids that go through this. Geez

People aren't relating to the podcast anymore because you're having more lgbt people on here. Wow, imagine not having someone you can relate to like Cody did as a kid. Mormon stories really needs more straight white men on here 😂. Which I dont mind if more do come on. I'll watch if I feel like it. If only people could see there is more than one story that needs to be shared multiple times as well. Each story is unique in their own way. There are a lot more diverse people could be brought on as well. Which is progressive? Sharing stories should be from all kinds of people. Seems hard for people to listen or just pass something that may not be the most relatable to for them. Probably because they've always been catered to.

I kind of think you may be trolling, but on the off chance your aren’t, I’m going to respond to your comment... I can understand your desire for representation of your own background. I have personally found it incredibly validating, based on my own background, to be represented in the LGBTQ+ community via Mormon Stories. For so many years, people in various underrepresented communities have been shunned and ignored in the LDS setting. I think it’s really neat to see the queer community represented positively in the (post) LDS community. I do sympathize with your desire for more relatable stories to your own personal journey. I don’t know if you’ve explored earlier Mormon Stories, but I find the majority of the past episodes more “straight white male-friendly” episodes if that’s more your vibe.

I hear what you're saying , it's a great idea, but let's not forget why we need to keep hearing them. For a long time , the LGBTQ have had to suffer in silence, and it's not over . Some damages are still to be healed and talking about it , helps many who are still struggling. Plus it's not old, it's still something people/ kids at church will have to suffer.

I feel sorry for the ones who just got humiliated all because this man came out..I wonder how the rest of his family feels about being humiliated for one and being lied to at the same time..do these people even stop to actually think of the reprocutions of what they are saying...because all I have noticed, it's all about them and not anyone else....I wonder if they have stopped reading the Bible as well...

I'm glad you deleted your post where you got vandalized. It's sad that it happened to you and even sadder you were implying just because you were a victim of vandalism, that it HAD to be religiously motivated and all the comments were in poor taste. Glad I no longer have to choose between you and the church because that's as bad as having to choose between Trump and Hillary.

are you ever going to have someone that isn't gay on here again or talk about something other than homosexuality. starting to get dull
@millie61293 жыл бұрын
When you bring it up like that, it’s kind of crazy to think of living in a world where all stories and songs and movies and interviews are done with straight people and no other group is represented… Yeah, that sounds suuuuuper interesting. You could probably start a podcast interviewing ex-white Mormon cisgender men and their oppressive experiences in the church.
