@@rifleshooterchannel208 That 22 cal 300 blackout has ever made sense to me. Why not just keep the 8 lb MP5? WTH wants an AR that shoots a 22 cal .308 cartridge in subsonic or even the supersonic loads when you can't even do the cool HK slap!!?? Just plain dumb 🤣😉

Really cool that the 150 Grain 5.56 exists, but I'm pretty sure my 150 Grain Syntech range ammo out of a Glock will make more energy, lol.
@jameslee43287 ай бұрын
150gr at the same speed would have the same energy but better penetration in 556 because it's thinner Aka sectional density.
@AlaskanBallistics3 жыл бұрын
I'd imagine you'd have to have a suppressor in it to get some cycling

Matt, you should try Hammer bullets in the 5.7x28mm, specifically the Hammer Hunter. You can buy a sample pack of 15 bullets, but the cheaper 100 piece packs run at least 0.69¢ a piece for .224 bullets...0.80¢ with shipping. If you need a handful, I'll donate some 35gr HHs. The great thing about these is that they generate lower pressure than lead core bullets and thus really like to be loaded hotter than normal loads...a huge benefit for 5.7x28mm that uses faster powders. With the 35gr HHs, the best thing to do is to use 30gr load data around around or even slightly above max. I've used past max loads with rifle primers that originally called for pistol primers... absolutely no pressure signs.

The 79g loaf seams like a copy of maybe an actual one of the loads from DRT. I killed a few deer with DRTs 55g load that’s a powder compressed copper. The results were devastating sometimes but inconsistent. One of them they acted like it was supposed to basically looked like you took a .410 shotgun with birdshot and stuck it inside a deers chest cavity and fired. Lungs were mush and surprisingly the powdered copper would go threw ribs.

Thanks Matt, that 79gr was pretty interesting and performed pretty well. I don't know how well you clean your blocks but if you pull out every little piece that's going to suck lol

Is the subsonic also compressed tungsten? It needs to be, if it isn't...being a denser material than lead will make it require less twist than a lead core bullet of the same length.
@BuffRANGE3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is compressed tungsten as well.

If you had clothings and bone in front of that 79 grain I can’t imagine how much frag there would be Awsome round. On the 150 if they would just drop it to like 100 grain with its separation it might be a viable home defense load who knows Awsome test.
@d30gaijin3 жыл бұрын
Purpose of the 150 was to be subsonic... think suppressed use.

Info on PRL: Powell River Labs out of Oak Ridge Tenn. is/was a defense contractor that had an explosive manufacturing license and specifically made special gun powders. How they got into powdered tungsten projectiles is never discussed. In 2002 the 87gr PRL was matched up and tested against 73gr Berger LTB, and the 77gr Sierra Match King while looking for the MK262 Mod 0/1. (Sierra Match King won contract). It was said that the PRL round was difficult to produce, fast enough, in large quantities. The technology was eventually sold to Dynamic Research Technologies (DRT) and changed their line to copper/ tin matrix projectiles. PRL was much better because of the use of the powdered tungsten, which keeps its mass as its going through gel. "Its said that it like throwing a food blender into the target", because the tungsten powder keeps going like a tornado inside. The 87gr was noted for its long range accuracy and penetration for unobstructed targets. 79gr is more of a varmit load and lacks the adequate penetration Dr Fackler presented a paper to the IWBA Journal discussing the 76gr tungsten tin core rifle projectiles. Fackler, ML "Tungsten frangible bullet wounds in pig: exam by autopsy and x-ray". Wound Ballistic review (4)3:33-34, Spring 2000. Good read if you can find it. Soon after making my first post on these back in 2010, was contacted by a special ops team member that said that the 87gr was the best performing projectile that he ever used, and that it will bring down a 1000lb elk. He had the data to back up his claim.

That as much power as a 9mm, around 50% more powerful than a 380 and I guess it would tumble quite hard against a rib cage. Yeah, it would hurt all right
