The reason i really like this car is because how well it drives after 11 years. It has just enough electronic tech to make it a modern car but not too much to make it “dealer services only”. We have 2010. Besides normal maintenance and transmission mount replacement (normal for glk/c), we had steering module failure - that chip was expensive and had to be programmed. The cost was $1.2k if I remember correctly. Great car, easy to drive, looks great. We have the premium, tech, and appearance packages. It is driven daily, garaged, waxed occasionally and look like a 2 year old car. It is also distinct vs all other round shape compact suvs.

Great video! I own a 2010 GLK 350 4 MATIC with 220,000 miles as of October 2021. I definitely have benefited from your DIY videos. On the 4 MATIC I had a front wheel drive shaft issue that required replacement ($1,200). No fuel pump/filter issues as of yet. Most fluid changes have been DIY with exception of transmission. Thanks to your videos brakes are DIY now too. I'm running the original serpantine belt and pullys - mechanic has inspected and show little serious wear. The low beam headlight bulb - especially drivers side has been a real pain - just getting access. Inside the car, the rotary knob for the Merceded Command system has failed - as widely reported by others. I work around it since its not worth the $500 to replace. My sunroof/sunshade now refuses to open - a suspected control module or relay failure - and quote was $1,000 to fix - again, not worth it at this point. The engine itself is is great shape - smooth - despite needing new engine mounts. I plan to soldier on with my GLK as its my daily driver. Any suggestions from your perspective would be welcome! Nice job on your videos. Some of the best DIY on YT!

Hey Chuck and thank you for the nice comments. If you need to change your serp belt/tensioner, etc., make sure to hit up the library as I have those DIY completed already. Sunroof - I have not needed to do this yet because my spec does not have one :- ) As for the other items you mentioned, if you plan on keeping the car and it doesn’t bother you, probably no need to fix it then as it gets older. The motor mount on this car isn’t “hard” but it certainly isn’t in the most easy to get to location. I have yet to see a CEL (knock on wood) for this car which we have been very happy with it.

My 2012 GLK350 with 133000 miles recently started having some shifting issues (722.9 Automatic Transmission). Shifting used to be so smooth that you couldn’t feel the shifting. Now, 3rd to 4th gear shift is a little out of sync with the engine rpm change. Sometimes there’s a clunk/jerk with downshifting if I slow down by coasting uphill. Have you had or heard of any issues like this? From my research, it seems like the common problem is with the TCM (transmission control module) which is integrated into the conductor plate on this transmission. @@512TXSDIY well the guage SAID so one time, and at times it looks high - but the only time it did I was on the highway. Hi Karen. I think is a decent price. A little on the higher side but if it has 2 keys, no accidents, well serviced then it’s worth it. It rides like a wagon/mini SUV to me. Too much for a German car...but not for a Japanese car

@@512TXSDIY better get a good extended warranty. I've been a Benz mechanic for 23 years those cars are fucking junk! The newer Benz are getting crappier and cheaper and plastic all over. If you want something that's going to last and not cost you a fortune buy a Japanese car. Japanese actually care about quality.. German cars all they care about is the first 4 years 50,000 MI... stay away from Subarus they're fucking garbage too..

German cars have a reputation for being absolute money pits. Is this an exception?
@512TXSDIY2 ай бұрын
Some do for sure, I get it. Mine has been pretty good. If you’re doing your own maintenance, I don’t think it’s a big deal. If you’re wanting hands off dependability, Japanese 100%.

@@512TXSDIYFair enough. I like Japanese reliability but most Japanese vehicles look boring as hell to me. I love the look of the GLK. One of the few masculine non-depressed looking small suvs on the market anymore. Just don't want to get hammered with $1000's in yearly repairs.
