i just did this bear of a job yesterday on my ml350. taking off the reservoir gives good access to the oil cooler screws so i cleaned that up and changed its gasket. it actually was leaking also. i clamped a small needle nose vice grip to the very end of the reservoir clip. put the clip in place and hit the rear of the needle nose with the palm of my hand. bingo.

I love seeing the cosmetic fixes like the headlights, hood and windshield. They’re usually so simple and can instantly make the car look so much newer. Would love to see the seat change in the next video, I want to know the best way that’s done. Killed it in this video again, congrats on fixing all the mechanical issues and happy belated birthday!

Thank you! The seat will be fixed in the next video with more cosmetic items! Thanks for the support!!

Since you had everything setup, you could have easily drained the torque converter. Also, you can buy a cheap 1 or 2gal sprayer from home depot and a cheap amazon adaper m12 instead of that tool. Of course if money is not an issue the tool is better.

Thanks for the advice! I actually tried looking for the torque converter bolt but couldn't find it... I looked into it and it said that some didn't come with a torque converter bolt... but I will keep my eye out for it next time I am working on a merc or other brands :)

I am loving these videos. I have another question: You called the bodyshop and they wanted ~$1000 to remove the hail damage. You chose to just replace the hood instead at $800. But seemingly, this leaves the hail damage on the roof, pillars, etc. Did you consider paying the additional $200 to have all of the hail damage removed instead?
@WhiteAutoАй бұрын
Thank you for the support! I got pretty lucky-the hail only affected the hood. The pillars and roof are completely undamaged. Maybe Mercedes used thinner material for the hood to save costs? Not sure, but in my case, it was just the hood. That’s a great point about the extra $200. I went with the $800 hood because the body shop didn’t have the best reputation, and I was worried it wouldn’t turn out as good as buying an undamaged one. My old hood also had scratches and clear coat peeling, so fixing it would have cost at least $1,500 and taken a week, which didn’t seem worth it to me.

Question, you never post a parts list, will you be posting one? Or any way you can post where you buy your parts?
@WhiteAuto2 ай бұрын
Hey! I have replied to your comment on the other video, but these are the three main places I order from: 1. Rock Auto Super affordable and has a huge selection for tons of parts. 2. FCP Euro (only for German cars) Their lifetime warranty on all parts is awesome! I usually get stuff from them that needs replacing often, like brakes, suspension parts, and air suspension stuff. I skip FCP for things that are more of a one-and-done deal, like engine mounts or a blower motor. 3. AMSOIL I use AMSOIL fluids for all my cars. The quality is great, and they ship everything right to your door.

Yes, it is definitely a common problem. I actually already changed that gasket in the first part of the rebuild ahaha... seems to be all good now :) thanks for the advise

The car is high mileage. Is it not risky to change the transmission fluid at such a high mileage? Could the fluid change cause transmission slippage? Anyway, love the video!
@WhiteAuto5 ай бұрын
I had the exact same concern when I was changing my transmission fluid. When contacting the delear and doing my research, both have told me that doing a flush of the transmission fluid can damage the internal clutches (yes, automatic transmissions also have clutches), but doing a drain and a fill, like I have done in the video is really beneficial. The transmission fluid has a few additives that over time burn off essentially due to heat. Draining that old fluid and replacing it with clean new fluid actually lubricates those clutches preventing slippage and damage to the transmission. Thanks for the support and asking the question! Feel free to ask more!!
