For me out of these two, the G Audio was the winner overall. I left Logic in 2018 for PT (still have it of course and have v11 installed since it was a free upgrade) and since I can integrate spectralayers really nicely in PT I really haven't had any jealousy of the mix separation in Logic. The worst I have heard so far is the Acon Digital one, I can't get any useable results from any kind of stem with that one.

I agree that G-AUDIO is certainly the winner. I did the opposite in 2018 and moved back to Logic Pro, but I still have a place in my heart for Tools. I've not trialled Acorn Digital, but I'll add it to the list. I'm recording an A/B RipX DAW comparison video this week. The platforms look very exciting.

@@MarcMatthewsProducer I left Logic after using it from 1997-2018 and honestly I haven't looked back. Sure, there are a couple midi functions it has that would be very welcome in Pro Tools, but other than that, I prefer *everything* else about PT, honest. It's good that we have so many options out there as we all have different taste!

Another cracking wee episode. Love getting this comparison on these. I'm not in a position where I'd see myself using any stem splitter but it's interesting nonetheless.

Thanks, mate. I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I'm finding more use of the stem splitter when analysing songs. For example, I hear a beat I like, separate the stem, double the drum track as MIDI, and magpie the idea 👌

The best I have ever heard is spectralayers 11, so will watch the video now with anticipation as I have no idea what to expect with the alternatives.

Great stuff, I've not used Spectralayers, so I look forward to reading your thoughts 🙌

@@MarcMatthewsProducer I've been using it for vocal extraction, and for that, I just haven't heard anything else like it. I wish I could access your recording here to test it head to head with drums and bass. I mean technically I could extract the audio from the youtube video, it won't be a high quality source but it will work, will you be OK with me doing that? If not, I absolutely will not. Cheers PS I just finished vid, and I can say at least for vocals that spectralayers beats both. It shocked me the other day, it retained the full vocal performance and reverb, I could not believe how good it was. The extreme quality mode is where it's at but it's very slow offline processing on both my Mac and PC (PC is 24 core Intel 2023 laptop and Mac is M2 Ultra Mac Studio). The normal quality mode sounds sort of like the G Audio here, maybe slightly better but the high and extreme modes are next gen. Maybe you can give it a go. It's a bit unorthodox to use, the results don't appear in the main file after processing but on the right as stems and you have to click between them like you are mixing, so keep that in mind if you try it.

I had worse results with GAUDIO on Other (Vocals and bass is better than Logic). It's interesting to me that you didn't. But your video is eye opener for me. Thanks a lot ! :)

You're welcome, amigo! I'm glad that it helps and thanks for sharing your experience. It's interesting that you didn't like the GAUDIO 'Other' results but my hypothesis is that the source material will have an impact. Out of interest, what genre of music did you experiment with?
