Stephen, great project. I really like the shape and beads. No need for embellishments--it's great as is. I've been using Ack's products for over a year and really like them. Better than Yorkshire grit in my opinion..and it's made in the USA! I just finished a spalted maple off-center bowl and Ack's took out some really stubborn tear-out that sanding to 400 grit didn't. Smooth as a baby's bottom! I also use them on acrylics and just tried them on some man-made turquoise. Worked well. I'm sure as you use them you'll like them even more. Cheers

I would say Stephen, that is Sapele. Just by the change in sheen as you turned it around. I've just completed one myself, turned out well, (not as good as yours), but we don't get to use Acks in the UK. If I may say, great design, excellent finish and well turned sir. Well turned! :-)

Thank you Brian. This is definitely one or the other. I am tending to think that you are correct with Sapele, They both have the flash you mentioned with good finish and smell the same also. Hi Stephen, glad to see you doing some wood turning again. That bowl is amazing the finish has brought out the beauty of the wood, I agree with you, the fractual burning would have spoilt that wood. Stephen, Always a pleasure to watch you at work in your shop, that is a very pretty piece of wood, after the Deft was applied and you were spinning the lathe by hand, the grain flashing would have made me stop, right there, so I didn't screw it up, but I'm glad you carried on with the Ack's, that's a really good looking finish. As a rookie woodturner, I love to get a feel for what processes everyone chooses, and what works, because I've found some that don't work real well. Real nice job on the shape and the finish.
