Ok, there is so much wrong with what you just said. First, i have my priorities; i don’t go running to buy all these things for the sake of Pokemon, and in recent gens, i got the games later and only one copy of each gen cause i kinda see the idea of buying two games pointless since there is still online trading with gen 6 & 7 and people ik would get the other version of the game (plus with a softmodded 3ds you can find the games for free in one way or another) Second, i see that at the end of what Nintendo and GameFreak for Sword and Shield is a total scam and an excuse for putting less effort on a game cause “the game will sell anyways” (and it still will cause their are the lesser smarter fans and kids that would be slightly interested). I’m still not ever going to get any gen 8 game and their services that they have to offer cause this is just Disney levels of greed now, just recycling what they have already made, relying on the nostalgic memories of many nerds, and trying to simply appeal with only a few features that don’t expand a whole lot more on their already dry content that was in every main game since gens 1 & 2. I’m happy with my Ultra Sun on my 3ds with the Pokemon that i have (and although the idea of “catch them all” wants me to test myself on actually doing so, their is no purpose now since their recent choices tarnished the main games). So putting all of the fans under the bus isn’t the smartest thing to say since not all of us bought the recent games, but your not fully wrong when some of them do not think fully in the principles of what Nintendo and GameFreak are doing now.

Without paying, you can't transfer from 3DS, you can't use the IV judge, and the only storage you get is 30 Pokemon, which is literally a half of 1% of the paid storage of 6000. It's almost nothing. All of the "free" features like GTS or Wonder Trade were already part of regular games last gen, so there's no added value. There might as well be no free version.

That generation was worse than what we have now. They didn't let us transfer from Gold and Silver at all, and then scattered all the old Pokemon between seven different GBA and GameCube games. And that was without Pokemon Box. Finishing the National Dex cost around $200 for that generation.

The Pokemon Company monopolized their market since they are a unique concept that other companies have a hard time replicating. They now realize they barely have to try and people will buy it anyways. They can monetize and nickle and dime their customers with features in apps and services that were once much cheaper or free and deliver sup par games for a full $60 and justify it with DLC. It's a huge mix of strategies that come from other devs like EA and Bethesda. Unlike those devs however it is seen as toxic, and hateful to criticize TPC and GF becuase they are an immensely popular and far reaching brand like Apple and Disney. people will hopelessly defend it and resort to whatever mental gymnastics imaginable to justify their bad decisions becuase "It's Pokemon". These same monopoly shenanigans are similar to Apple and Disney. They're brand is a cult where iff you are criticizing or asking for improvement or change, you will be labeled as a traitor and a heretic by your fellow fans thus gatekeeping ensues. Ive followed this series for 20 years and I can say without a doubt they have flown to close to the sun. While this wont impact them right now do to their success, it will certainly impact them later when more and more people are sick of this. It will be a slow poison to this brand and even the most hardcore of defenders will catch on. I'm Hoping competition comes around like Temtem or any other AAA or Indie comes to compete and succeeds. Gamefreak and TPC need competition and more importantly need to be humbled and actually choose to make better games and services at a better value if fans want sognificant change. That's my 2 sense. Now to keep up with Sword and Shield and future games on SwSh it costs 320% more plus your 60 dollar game and 30 dollar doc which they used to "justify" the lackluster base game. Why? For features they brought back and rebranded to "justify" the price. GTS used to come with your 40 dollar game, wonder trade while having improvements is still not worth it. Chatrooms seem pointless too. And the free version is gimped just enough so that after your month trial is up, if you want to keep your benched unavailable in Galar mons in HOME to have a complete living dex, you are forced into the overpriced service. 30 slots is not enough for the free version. Again. They tacked on features that they could have added in SwSh instead to falsely justify the agregious overpricing of this service. I have a job and can pay for it but the thing is. I dont want to pay THAT much to keep the equivalent of 1's and 0's that is most likely a minuscule amount of data for each pokemon. I'd rather pay for a branded 20 dollar thumb drive I'd only have to pay for once. At least I'd have a collector's item.

I’ve had time to process the same opinion everyone has been spewing about home and dexit and I’ve come to this conclusion. Gamefreak actually had a well thought out service model, but where they cut their legs short was giving fans a shitty game that was beyond underwhelming. Fans would’ve bought into Home, regardless of the price + principle of it, if the DLC was already packaged in the game as maybe post game content instead of the lackluster one we received, more developed cities and towns instead of the hollow / empty corridors we were given, improved battle animations we were promised, more explorable areas instead of the main routes, and a better competitive meta game for those that are interested. Those are just the main frustrations that overshadowed the minor gripes of the game. We’d all purchase home if gamefreak didn’t under deliver and tried to spit in our face with this scummy act. The writing was already on the wall when they didn’t release an official video for Home, they knew what they’ve already done by disappointing fans.

U forgot to mention that unless u are playing pokemon go on a apple iPhone u will not get the full benefits and enjoyment out of the "game". This is because on android (to my knowledge) u cant use a gps stick without any drawbacks (having refresh the map every time u need to move). This is the kind of BS that's keeping me from getting a 3DS and gen 6/7 or a Switch and gen 8. I played Blue, Silver, Sapphire, Leaf Green, Colosseum, Platinum, Soul Silver, Black, and Black 2, but never got a 3DS and recently thought about getting back into it, but with the cost of a used 2DS or 3DS and the games themselves all being nearly MSRP (or stupidly over), I'm thinking I won't. Not to mention the need to pay to transfer Pokemon forward when from gen 3 onward you could do it free if you had a DS with the GBA cart slot or from 4 to 5 with a borrowed DS. Add onto that the hesitation in learning another 100+ Pokemon and all kinds of new moves and the addition of fairy types and who knows what else. I'm an elder millennial I've learned enough Pokemon names.

Now, the best move I can think: pay for 1 month initially to get ONLY the pokemon in Galar onto the sword and shield. When the next game comes out, find the pokemon that didn't come that can this time for the 1 month price, and if you do this correctly, you could potentially avoid a Pokemon Bank fee forever, cause you can just put your mons from the DS into other games for free constantly. You just have to abandon the DS games. This is bullshit.

Yeah I definitely don't like home like why is it's feature split between mobile and switch. It should of just been on switch were you can transfer your go Pokemon by wifi from your phone because I'm worried about the mobile home even working with my phone because I couldn't get masters on my phone plus all the good stuff is on mobile like mystery gift and GTS (definitely should of been in the game along with growing berries and all the starters including get a gmax Pikachu/Eevee thru raids). This thing is gonna make me spent 21€ just to send some of my pokemon in my Gen 7 games. I have to buy the home expansion since I have worked for years on my pokemon at IV training and Shiny Hunting. That "Pokemon Experience" thing you have there is wrong though. People who are going to pay for a service like Pokemon Home for an entire year must have already bought other Pokemon games, so eithter add them into the equation, or delete the price of the new games. What I'm saying is, in its entirety, it's a $41 yearly service for hardcore Pokemon players, plus the price of the games and the systems you need to play them. And from that $41, chances are that you are already paying $25, from Nintendo Online and Pokemon Bank. So it's not actually a $131 price for everything. To be clear, I'm not defending The Pokemon Company for charging for the privilege of moving your Pokemon up to the newest generation, as it has been "free" on older generations. It should be free to move them to the newest generation, specially now that wireless communications exist.

I don't get your reasoning here. The new games cost money no matter what. Yes, anyone that wants the transfer ability would have bought older games. That's not the issue at hand though. The issue at hand is the cost of a full Sword/Shield Generation 8 "Pokemon experience". Within less than a year of the first game release of Generation 8, they've marketed $135 worth of goods, up from $45 in the past generation. Even if you wanted to factor in the old games, it would simply make that price higher, not lower. It's still money being spent. The only reason people aren't factoring in those older games is because they're part of a prior experience, and their value has already been enjoyed. They aren't part of the current "Pokemon experience" everyone is talking about. On the other hand, some people buy a Switch simply to play Pokemon, making the online fee a definite part of the equation. And the console, which if you count, makes it more. But that's kind of redundant, since we expect a console no matter what. Also, I'm not sure where you got $41. By your logic, it should be $46, for HOME for one year and the Expansion Pack.

What I'm saying is that Pokemon Home is not a service that everyone who plays Pokemon is going to get, it is a "premium" or "pro" version of it. And as to why I don't consider the price of the games, that's because the formula on the video is adding something that, as you said, it's part of a prior experience, in Pokemon Bank. So, if you are adding Pokemon Bank to the mix, why not add the price of the old games as well? That's why I'm saying that the formula is wrong. And just to be clear here, I'm not saying that if you want all of this, you shouldn't consider the price of the game, which obviously you should. I'm just saying that the formula on the video was wrong.

@@SunshineCasy Also, I would consider that the third pragraph on my original post was very clear on the price of the Pokemon Experience: A $41 yearly service, so that's Pokemon Bank + Pokemon Home + Nintendo Online, in top of the price of the games (which for Pokemon Gen 8 is $60, or $90 if you want a game and it's expansion pass, or $120 if you want both games, or $180 if you want both games with both expansion passes), and the price of the system to play said games. So yeah, it's expensive. And I thought that I was clear there.

i have a different view on some of these views with pokemon right now 1) I honestly thought sw/sh was worth the $80 (I'm Australian) i payed, i just think many people wanted everything in the very first main series on console. I can see some peoples arguments on why it isn't worth it and understand it is fair criticism. 2) Expansion pass is 100% a step in the right direction. Cheaper than a 3rd game, easily more new content than what a 3rd version brings. 3) Pokemon home is and isn't worth it in my eyes right now. $16 a year isn't much imo, and you get a fair bit of extra services over what bank had. First reason i would suggest people not to get it is you will have pokemon stuck on home that cant be transferred anywhere yet. Second reason is if you only want the wonder trade feature or gts to help fill out your pokedex, the free version does that just fine and serviceable. 4) I DISLIKE how people add the whole $20 onto pokemon with the switch online, fair enough if pokemon is the only reason you get it. If you are like me, i use switch online for way more than just pokemon, so i can't add the $20 solely to pokemon, I play ssbu, splatoon 2, mk8d, NES, tetris 99, i also used the 2 games tickets to save money on fe3h and Sword. So unless your not using switch online for only pokemon, it's very hard to add this on top of the games and services.

Do people that play competitively really does so on older gen?.. Defeats the purpose imo. Also, majority of the people that will buy Home Premium will probably empty their Bank and just use Home. DLC will add a lot of pkmns and the pool will clearly rotate in future games. Sure Home is more expensive, but you get an Android app, which means trading with people without your switch on you. On top of that you can Wonder Trade and we get the GTS back but from outside a game, where you probably keeps all your important pkmn if you pay for Home, and that makes a lot of sense. Pokedex features are cute but probably won't be used that much. Personally got hyped for it, but I'm also in the unpopular group of persons that actually really enjoyed SwSh, so who knows

Sorry to sound like an ass but Masuda said there was no plans for DLC but he said this like 6 years ago plans change and the fact people are complaining over the 30 dollar DLC is idiotic as I would rather pay 30 dollar for DLC not just one but two new areas to explore rather than 60 dollars for the same game but with a few tweaks also people complaining about Pokemon that were cut REMEMBER not all Pokemon have been catchable but not only that there has been no national decision since gen 6 yes you were able to transfer Pokemon in ALSO Pokemon home is free but you have the option to pay for premium in home ALSO it’s 16 dollars A YEAR and 5 dollars a year for home and bank
