I bought this model the other day and finally got to use it today. The hype is real. The Line-IQ and Power Load features are worth the price by themselves. A couple of underrated features are the string outlet holes in the head are low to the ground. You can cut low to the ground without having to tilt it forward since it doesn't have the bump head causing the string to be an inch or so higher than it should be. Second, the flat forearm area on top of the head unit. I find myself bracing the motor end with my forearm to keep it braced and steady. With some, this part has some harsh corner or angle and with gas trimmers, it's often very hot. Battery powered means it stays cool and the wide, flat surface makes it comfortable on the forearm. Every time I thought to myself "I should give it some more line", it just lets some out at almost that exact moment. I used the preloaded line and didn't run out, so I haven't gotten to load any new string into it yet, but I did play around a bit with the power load making it short then hitting the trigger and watching it magically put the line back out to the proper length. It's quiet. It's more powerful than I need at my house. No gas to mix and wait for it to go bad. No carb to mess with. No air filter to change. Just pop the battery in, pull the trigger and marvel at the technological wizardry in your hands. I trimmed for the first time this year so it was more than I normally would have to do and it still had 4 bars worth of battery meter showing. I got this and the 765 CFM leaf blower after picking up the Ego LM2125SP self propelled mower last week. (All three were on sale at Lowes at the time) All three tools do exactly what they folks at Ego say they do. They work well, are convenient, and very simple to use. I am in my 50's and work all day 5 days a week. I don't want to have to work on or worry about if my lawn care gear is going to give me any problems when I need to cut my grass.

I got one yesterday. On a review I watched they said it took a while for the battery to charge. It was half charged when I got it out of the box. I put it on the charge and it was charged by the time I got the weed eater all put together. I have 1 acre, and after going around my house and along a ditch that is about 50yrs long, I didn't even use half the battery charge. I was amazed. So far really liking it. Love the line IQ and push button feed.

Too short so I'm left with back pain from hunching over and it's gotten to the point where I have to use 2 pair of channel lock pliers just to load the damn string. Love your energy and creative video work, my dude, I bought one of these today before I saw your video. I had been thinking about the purchase for a few weeks and finally bought it at Lowes for $299. I don't see this model going on sell anytime soon so I wanted to get it while it could still be useful this season. My other battery trimmer is a Ryobi which I generally like but its a bit top heavy compared to this one and I find it annoying to have to change sring frequently and the cap is very hard to take off. I look forward to more of your content.

Ive seen several videos on this product. Thay all say the same things. Well balanced, feels good in the hands, auto line feed is the best, super good lookin', feels like a rocket, and on and on. Never anything sbout the power, how long the battery lasts, how much the thing costs, how much another battery costs, will it work commercially. Im assuming the reason they dont talk about these things is because its not in their best interest to do so.

Thank you for watching! I recommend skipping any of the cheaper EGO trimmers and go straight to this one! Don't get me wrong the other's are not bad it's just the cap is on so dang tight it's frustrating. That's on any EGO trimmer that doesn't have the line IQ. Using a flathead screwdriver works but we are going for convenience right... having to add another task of having a screw driver on deck everytime you use the cheaper EGO trimmers is not convenient in my eyes lol Let me know what you think when you get it I just used it on the backyard and my face hurts some smiling so much LOL! 😂🤙🏾

Received mine today and after two hours of experimenting, I could not get it to spool the string with any consistency. Going to change the head tomorrow to confirm that I have a faulty (head) out of the box. Also, if one side unreeled to its normal 5.5 inches (for each side), it would leave the short side uneven. I'm positive that's not how it's supposed to work. Still gave it 5 stars on Amazon!

It looks like one of the main things between this model and last years is the line IQ. Do you think it’s worth the extra $100 for that instead of the regular bump method? Also is there a second way to get the string out if the IQ feature doesn’t work? Thanks for you’re videos btw!
@YardBrah

I have both now carbon bump and carbon line iq… for me the line iq is just new tech that makes life easier.. but the powerload with the bump feature is def a good combo… if it didn’t have the powerload and just bump I would pass… to answer your question though if you got an extra $100 to burn go line iq 😊🙌🏾🙏🏾🤙🏾

I used to do commercial lawn care so I'm pretty picky about weed eaters... That being said I love everything about this one except for the stupid line IQ. I know it's not the popular opinion but I hate it because there's no way to control the length of the string. Most of the time it doesn't even run it out to the cutter on the guard. I found the trick is to press the power load button so it will pull the line in and be what it considers too short, then it will feed more line back out to about 5 or 6 in on each side maybe seven if you're lucky... That's why I say I love everything about it except for that. You know how on a strong gas powered weed eater you can take the guard off and have a large swath which makes it easier to do feathering and swing and keep it level. I know a lot of residential guys wont understand that but a commercial guy gets what I mean. it's easier if you have a longer string and large swath. The motor on this trimmer is plenty strong enough for much longer string especially if you're running lightweight string. I wish they would give us a way to disable it or adjust the length of string that it feeds out. I tend to dig in a little bit with a small swath like 16 in... Which usually turns out to be more like 12 to 14 🙄

@@Ben_ansley I couldn't find the exact model with bump feed or a way to change it for the bump feed. I ended up getting the cheaper model and I'm fairly ok with it .. the IQ one was better except the IQ is dumb lol. The cheaper one I got will run about a 22ish diameter if you use next smaller string thickness and bump the trigger so it doesn't have time to realize it is past the load threshold set point they configured... I considered just hacking it and basically removing everything except for battery and motor... Use my own speed controller and BMS board, install a potentiometer for better variable throttle, a heatsink or fan on the motor shell, stuff like that... Then it wouldn't shut down until it fries the motor or ESC lol

I picked one up and although I need some practice, I edged and trimmed with it yesterday and did a decent job. It’s not too heavy for me and I’m only 5’2. I don’t find it awkward but I have a Thoracic Outlet and Carpal Tunnel, so my fingers go numb when using. I wish it had an on button with a speed dial. That might help someone like me. But I’m going to pick up a strap and a Darwin Grip to see if it helps. I say go for it. I have the select cut Ego mower and could not be happier.
