ENFP: literally had to listen the ENFP one 4 times to figure out where the misunderstanding is 🤣 What I just kept simplifying the statement to in my mind: "ENFPs live in ideas/possibility but what people don't understand is that they're living in ideas/possibility." Umm, yeah... So... where's the misunderstanding? Finally realized: "oh! Other people don't necessarily realize we're interested in exploring possibilities just for the sheer joy of appreciating what the possibilities in the world are?! But why else would you do that?! And how are you supposed to know the direction you eventually choose is right for you if you haven't checked a giant array of possibilities?!"
@Monochromatification2 жыл бұрын
The difference is in the point at which anyone chooses to *stop* exploring. Many other personalities have a lower threshold than ENFPs. Some believe there are more options in this world than anyone can completely explore in one lifetime, and so go with whatever works in the moment. Others are more aware that you cannot take a decision while simultaneously still looking at options, and that time and energy are limited. Also, a lot of things take time to build and that's impossible for anyone who is still sampling options to see what they really want. So, to those personalities, the ENFP's desire to explore extensively can seem misguided and unreasonable. But that's because they have a lower threshold on when to stop. Most ENFPs stop exploring eventually, usually when they've reached some externally-imposed limit.

As an Enfp, I recognize the my Ne is highly misunderstood. It goes to what the video states: I present an idea, and either the idea isn't taken seriously because I don't wholly believe in it myself yet, or it is assumed that I must hold the idea true. I get comments like "oh, that was just a clever little thought you had. Nothing more." Or "you're defending this position, so you must find it true on some level." But for me, I have the idea and now the idea EXISTS, so now it has value by mere existence whether it be true or not. The idea may now be held up to other ideas in comparison to prove its viability. Other ideas may be compared to it to prove their viability. Maybe a good analogy is walking down a path to a destination. On the way you come across a mushroom. It doesn't look edible. You don't know if it's poisonous. Most people would keep moving because the mushroom is an unknown and doesn't help you immediately on your journey and isn't your destination anyway. I will stop and ponder it, maybe pick it up and carry it along because of its unknown qualities. Who knows, maybe it's the cure for cancer. Maybe it is poison. The mushroom holds value in its possibilities.

I think this is something common for many Ne users. I think I’m an INTP, and I’ve always entertained ideas no matter how far fetched, and I put ideas out there even if they’re ridiculous because they still have value in moving towards truth or benefit (even if that value literally comes from them being wrong). The mental exercise of considering or disproving it is still valuable. And they can be funny! My inf Fe is just too scared usually to say them in front of others because they don’t think this way. I think I carry around so many ideas, many of which I believe and many more of which I’m conflicted about. Ne collects ideas. I never understood people who don’t do that. But I guess they would perceive it as disorganized - they’d ask why we carry them around if we don’t believe in them. But it’s just an interesting possibility, and can be connected to something bigger.

I love this stereotype of ENTP being anti-traditional, revolutionary, anarchistic. This is so shallow. You don't have to oppose everything when you tend to oppose something. I am interested in religions. Different religions, comparing them. One would say: "so you must be an atheist or agnostic." Not really. My religion is a bit weird because how many polytheists do we have in modern world? ;). But I'm serious about believing in it, following it's laws. And! Polytheism gives me some flexibility - there are many gods, they value different things, I'm not pinned to one and the only one right. The same goes with polithics - I am not a rebel. I support a strong state, but it must respect some private freedom of citizens, for example a freedom of speech. For me the person who can't identify with any community and is a radical individualist, opposing all rules and all authorities is either dumb or just a kid (sometimes both). People need some frames in their life.

I'm an INTJ and I have a strong urge to challenge ENTJs, I enjoy beating them, and competing against them, although it's painfully hard sometimes since, I gotta admit you have to work on their level to outperform them or outsmart them

Don't listen to this guy's advice, ENTJs are still at the end of the day only human and not superior to you in any way
