"no man" is referring to the collective human race not a specific gender e.g "one small step for man". Its clear by the context that this is what I meant, I generally find its a strong indication of stupidity when someone starts the opening of there argument with a red herring. Your remark was not placid, it contains a wealth of insight into the way you think, which I find distressing. Negativity for the sake of negativity.

yeah, also the parent's income support, parent's backyard to be able to build it in, a house to live in and zero bills to pay WHILE he does it. I love this, but we shouldn't praise people when you don't see what actually goes into his success. if he was living in an apartment in a city, or a community housing unit cramped in, if he had to work on all his spare time to be able to help pay bills, then he would not be able to do this. that's what kids my age don't realize - a lot of your success depends on your parents. cudos to him for actually building it himself, but - is his dad a handy man? are those his father's tools? did his father teach him, or did he have to buy everything himself and teach himself how to do all this? probably not.

LMFAO people who say that are ignorant and living on some fantasy cloud. he's building this in mommy and daddy's backyard, in the home that they own, one. two, his father is handy. three, his father's buddies are handy and helped with the electricity. four, he does NOT have rent or any bills to pay at 16 years old. he has the time, energy and drive to do this. his parents probably helped finance A LOT more than you think. when looking at someone's success, you need to look at how much of that success was the parents passing on their privileges (as they should though!) down to their kids, so they can succeed in life. i've lived in apartments my whole life. don't know anyone with power tools. haven't known anyone with a backyard and space to do something like this, since i was 12. i don't know a single person who could assist me on this WITHOUT me having to pay someone. i do have my mind set on doing this, it's just out of my reach financially. even if i have the funds, tools, and skills, i'd still need a place to work on it. life is more than just "putting your mind to it". everyone has different privlidges and disadvantages in life. look at that US snowboarding olympian - at 8 years old his family picked up and moved to colorado JUST so they can help him train, and at 17 he won gold. if he didn't have that support from his family, if he was living in poverty - guaranteed he would not be anywhere near as good as he is. that's a fact.

What a great kid! It's too bad we don't see more of this from kids these days. Many are too involved sending a thousand text messages each day on their cell phones, getting tattoos and coloring their hair purple or orange.

@alan3018911 жыл бұрын

@MichaelMedlock11 жыл бұрын
If your kid wasn't sending txt msgs and showing his/her independence by coloring their hair or whatnot, then something would be wrong. Kids need to be social. Otherwise when they reach adulthood, they will not have developed the communication and social skills necessary to succeed in life. The whole "kids these days" arguments are nothing but those in a generation on its way out looking back, jealous of the youth they've lost.
@alan3018911 жыл бұрын
Michael Medlock Sure they need to be social, but they don't have to look like freaks to do it! Are you kidding me? Also, sending text messages all the time is going to effect ones ability to communicate verbally. It's far less personable. Talk to people! Associate with people in person. Don't just send thousands of text messages every week. It's pitiful, plus it's an inefficient waste of time. Kids are getting fat sitting around texting constantly. Look at them. Ask your parents if girls and boys were that fat when they were in high school. They will say: "hell no!" I don't have children, but if I did, I would limit text messages severely or eliminate them entirely until they are older. It's not a necessity. Neither are cell phones, but I would let my kid have one for emergency purposes. They need to develop verbal skills to succeed in life. Call the person and talk to him or her! Also, when my kid started driving, he or she would need to turn the cell phone off entirely when driving until he or she got to his/her destination. If they didn't, they would lose their cell phone for at least a month. And trust me, my youth was of far better quality without all this crap than yours will ever be. There is NO jealousy here. Although modern technology is nice to have, I feel sorry for kids today to miss what I experienced, growing up.
@imalaakebab452511 жыл бұрын
What YOU experienced is not what everyone wants to experience. You just sound bitter and sad, this is the age of technology. You either get with the times or you don't, plenty have swung both ways, so the kids these days argument is invalid. The quality of childhood is determined by the child him/herself, not what you think it is. I spent most of my childhood playing sports and video games and I think that was amazing.

Clearly many people that are commenting on this video have no clue what they are talking about "I bulit two homes ganna build three" Yea probably on Minecraft. This kid did more that 99.99% of kids his age do. How about do some research and look at the cost of an apt. I pay $1200 a month for rent, bills, etc etc. Yea he may seem to have paid a bit for it ( idk I haven't ever done that) but to me in the first year he has saved it or even made money off of it by saving so much. Plus he did it himself and didn't have to save it to a hard drive.

@theStepFamm10 жыл бұрын
you have spoken nothing of labor costs. and obviously the trailer and the appliance costs are not to be added into the square foot evaluation. thirdly, it isnt meant to be a house, its meant to be an alternative to the problems that arise from civilization/unsustainable ecosystems. i dont mean to be insulting but your inaccuracy might lead some one else on this thread to believe that a tiny house is a financially inept decision, when it so clearly isnt . especially for someone of his age. think before you write things on here they have a chain effect
@09FordFX410 жыл бұрын
there is no labour cost when building your own home..... thats the point of building it yourself... 12,000 for that tiny ass trailer house, is ridiculous. dont care what you think. because you clearly no shit all about building houses.

Though imagine when this kid buys a house, how well he will be able to manage it. Yes if you are a grown man, by all means by a built structure, as a matter of fact pay this kid to build it or maintain.
@matad31110 жыл бұрын
But that's not the same and rewarding as building something yourself. Anybody like you can go out and buy something then have the same thing as many other people. When you build your own thing its one of a kind and no one else has the same thing as you. In this case this kid this is his project and his own that he built, I give him a lot of credit for doing this, I don't know too many kids anymore that would go out and build something they would rather buy it. Great looking house man!!

This is so cool. I absolutely love the tiny house movement. I've always liked having just what I need, no excess I do find I live pretty stress free not having to worry about caring or housing many material possessions. Doing a bit of research on some building ideas for a possible future tiny home for myself. But this kid building it entirely himself? is just remarkable, hell even inspirational. If that young man ever reads this comment? bravo to you my good man. You have a good head on your shoulders and you seem to have your priorities in line. Many of our youth today could learn a few things from you.

You "cut, measure & cut some more"? Okay you're only 16, so for best results here's a tip and what my Dad (a real builder) told me. 'Measure twice, cut once'. Sounds simple but works surprisingly well. And it's saves you loads of money & frustration.

Sniper Picks- Ha, ha, ha. I love that! Personally I really enjoy listening to WW2 veterans (both sides). What I found interesting is just how many didn't go to war for patriotic reasons at all. For many it was about adventure, seeing new places or just getting away from the hum drum of daily life. Sounds like your WW2 vet had his head screwed on the right way, staying on afterwards for work & women. Work, romance AND education. What a combination! Take care ;-)

AWSOME, I tell younger guys at work that this would be the way to go. Buying a home this day and age is pointless, you need to stay mobile so you can go to the work. Property taxes and all the crap of a house, even if you own it some one wants to take it from you and try to sell a house if you need to move. I would look into solar power to stay independent. RV appliances will serve you best, 12v, 110v, and propane. Set up some 12v lighting.
@OfARisenFall11 жыл бұрын
So you think an RV or mobile home park (as you'd have to park it at parks by law, at least here) might be best as the home itself is relocatable? Here in Australia property prices and taxes are insanely high and many young people, myself included, cannot afford a full-blown home, so it's one option I was considering. Could you give more insight into your opinion? I'm pretty naive when it comes to this sort of thing. Thanks if you can!
@morris406911 жыл бұрын
There's lots of info out there on small homes, homes made from buses, trucks, trailers and even living in vans and cars. Oddly enough I was looking at info of people living in their vans ( vandwellers.com) and converted cargo trailers when a disagreement with the girlfriend got me homeless for a month till I could get her out of my home. Any way that info came in real handy getting the opportunity to live in my van! It just makes sense to stay mobile and not have a lot of needless stuff. I wouldn't say a mobile home trailer that you have to live in a trailer park, I'd stay smaller and at worst have to park at campgrounds.

I mean... I saved 7k with my wife which allowed us to buy a home via the FHA loan... our mortgage is $1215/mo which includes mortgage insurance, taxes, home insurance. Our house has gained 100k in equity over the last year, not that we are looking to move. I would disagree that buying a house is pointless.

But he can control the quality more easily. Travel campers (caravans) use the cheapest materials known to man. Horribly flammable and flimsy.
@persebra10 жыл бұрын
you should do more reading. Brian Fredline comments agree with all i have read and seen. If the tiny house is properly built, then the quality of the trailer its built on is much heavier and stronger. the frame and walls are solidly built, better quality insulation etc. campers are not built for year round living.
@Saartje0510 жыл бұрын
Brian Fredline That´s because they have to be light. You can´t just use heavy materials because here you´re not allowed to go on the road with it. And I´m using caravans for forty years now and they´re absolutely fine. In all the years I´ve NEVER seen a burning caravan and I´ve travelled all over Europe. And flimsy? Depends on what you're doing with is. They're strong and warm enough to handle very cold winters.
@Saartje0510 жыл бұрын
per sebra Many do though. And when they're much heavier you can't travel with them so what's the use?
@persebra10 жыл бұрын
Saartje05 jeez dude. you still dont seem to understand the difference, do you? there are many choices depending on your needs. need a sporty, light vacation abode for a few days at the lake? a teardrop camper retired and want to travel and see all the states for a few years? an RV. or want to live year round in a house that rarely moves- once or twice a year, that will last a couple of generations? a tiny house.
