Australia’s clean machines are out to impress again, and BOTH are street legal! Frank’s Datsun 1200 Ute squeezes a genuine R35 V6 under the bonnet, which means the use his 76mm turbocharger it’s gotta go in the bed. Meanwhile Ben’s bringing out the “ultimate streetcar” R32 Skyline GT-R. The factory RB30 engine is augmented by custom-spec heads and camshaft, a big ol’ turbo, dry sump oil system and sequential trans.

Reading the comments and people saying need to bring out the Hoonicorn to take on the GTR. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see that. But we've got no shortage of 6 second R32's, here in Australia. Even full street registered R32's running into the 6's, full interior, steel panels, and aircon. It's a jungle out here

Wow wow wow that GTR! Must respect the setup of the car. Anyone can slap on 1600HP on a car with nitrous, but the way this car and driver handled it. RB30, big turbo, dry sump, nitrous, proper suspension, wheels and tires, tranny and shifter combo, haltech, rear end, etc. I'm sure the list goes on and on. A testament to how Aussie GTRs are the best in the world and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Coolest thing about that GTR is how both the outside and inside look almost completely stock (apart from the huge sequential shifter and subtle dash inside), but it is an absolute beast. Would be an amazing sleeper if it wasn't a GTR since everyone knows those are crazy fast cars.

Epic always good fun to watch. I love the idea of turbos in the rear but considering there would be very little airflow in that spot wouldn't the turbo be working harder to suck air (same reason if you put a RAD there it needs ducts to actually function cause air doesn't move much)

The man stated that it's a street race car . The owner wouldn't want too much precise info to be known for gambling purposes . Nobody knows how much of the power he used here . The builder is trying to advertise his expertise at building fast street cars while also trying to protect the owners info to use it as a gambling tool . The race made essentially no sense from the jump with only one way for the GTR to lose which is mechanical failure. He wanted to show it going fast but not breaking without anybody knowing too much about what mode and the times or terminal speed at 1k ft . They did not even try to negotiate something that would cause any doubt who would win unless the GTR broke something critical or stalled . What's crazy is how stock it looks and doesn't twist itself up putting down all that power with no cage . I don't know I have ever seen something shift so quickly , it made the hoonicorn seem like it had long gears . The hoonicorn is something built to do stuff all day long and not a drag car and not a street car so no actual comparison. But as an actual street car this car is one of the best I have ever seen In regards to performance but there is something odd about the choice of apponent ,but it might be all innocent and just who was around and availible and or willing .

The 32 is my car, match up was a last minute thing. Car is running no nos in these runs. They asked to race another cat which was there it's a quick evo lancer but they wouldn't allow it. Car has a billet block now and makes over 1800hp

No prep US vs aust was at the start if the year, was pretty much no contest, US whitewash. In saying that there was a distinct lack of communication in a good time frame to Aussie competitors and quite a lot of quick workshops got the shits and gave it a miss.
