Hi Mark, Thanks for watching. My favorite router is the Dewalt DWP611. Not sure if it's available in the UK or if they call is something else. You can see me talk all about routers on our video newsletter #33. I use several different kinds of bits depending on what I want the carving to look like. Check out our video newsletters #38,39, & 40. Dave goes over all oif them. Let us know if you have anymore questions. Thank you, Eric

I been trying to find how to rout small letters into wood what's best router or trim router? What bit and what's the best technique
@oldave100
@oldave100 7 жыл бұрын
Jason, I like the small trim routers, easier to maneuver. I like our 60 degree bit and I would probably do them inset. Hope this helps. If you have more questions you can email me directly eric@makeawoodsign.com. Thank you

+Burt G Hi Burt, 2" & 1 1/2" outset on the top line. 1" inset on the bottom line. The chevy logo is a 3.25" circle. Found it on google.

Yes we have blank base plates that will work with most fixed base routers. All you would need to do is drill your own mounting holes like on this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWapq3eeht1nfM0. I'm a new subscriber and I've only watched a couple of your videos (and am looking forward to more). I see that you use multiple routers. Can I do complete signs with a Dewalt trim router, or do I need to invest in another more powerful one for the larger areas?
@oldave100
@oldave100 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, thank you for subscribing & watching. Yes the dwp611 will do everything but some of the heavier operations eventually I would get a bigger router for. Otherwise if you start making lots of signs you may wear out your little trim router. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other specific questions I can help with, eric@makeawoodsign.com.

I'm considering getting a DW611. I currently have a Porter Cable 690lr. Would the DW611 be leaps and bounds better due to size or would that money be better spent on bits and lumber?
@oldave100
@oldave100 5 жыл бұрын
I like the small routers for carving, but I carved signs for decades with the bigger routers. The 690LR is a great router and will do everything you need. If you have to pick the bits and wood are FAR more important than the router.
@MrDirtysteve75
@MrDirtysteve75 5 жыл бұрын
@@oldave100 thanks for the quick reply. I've got an assortment of bits, but there are some others I'd like to get. Same with lumber, you can never have too much. I think I'll try the 690 for a while, then get the 611 later. That way I can leave the 690 in the table and not dismount it so often.
