Props to Marinelli. Unfortunately it is not Iowa wrestling to their potential. Penn State is bigger, stronger and better wrestlers. Penn State wrestles better at Nationals. We will see what Iowa can do at Pittsburgh.

Clive Rosales hard to see Cenzo losing because he knows what it’s like to perform on big stages like this. But on the mat anything can happen. Even before Marinelli’s loss he was my pick to win it at 165 and now I feel even more confident that he’ll do that.

Now, Joseph will likely have to face Wick to get to the final. That’s a big advantage for Marinelli because it seems that he can’t get out from under Wick. I think Joseph is the best wrestler in that weight class when it comes to diversity in his attacks, but I like Marinelli a lot. He never stops coming and will push and push when on his feet.

Its interesting that Vincenzo hasn't changed his style at all....inside trip, inside trip.....etc. What's even more interesting is Cael has or hasn't felt the need to address this possible clash in styles with Marinelli let alone anyone else. It seems arrogant almost to think that either Cenzo or Cael or both think that either they are better than anybody or everybody in the field hence no style change per any wrestler out there. I guess if you can beat IMAR with inside trip you can beat them all. Arrogance at its best!! Steel does sharpen steel, but can you train the obstanance out of an athlete! Great job by Marinelli, stayed aggressive and sharp all seven minutes.

I'm a little new to wrestling...can someone please explain the 6 points at the 5:30 mark? 2 for the take down, 2 for a near fall, and 2 for back exposure to a 4 count?...does a 5 count get him to 3? Is there a scenario where he gets any more points out of that sequence? Sorry...just trying to learn. Thanks for the help!

2 points for takedown, 4 points back exposer. Yes, the referee did a count of 4. In college 4 points is the max you can get for back exposer. In collegiate/folk-style wrestling, you can get points for a 2, 3, or 4 count (points match the count). In high school and younger I believe the max count & points is 3. However, it's been a few yrs since I have wrestled & coached, I may be wrong about that, but I believe that's still the rule.
