This car is the reason why I built my truck. I remember watching this video the day it came out and when the guy holding the camera says "this is the scariest one of all" I knew I had to have something similar. All I've ever wanted is something that scares me to drive on the street. Have finally achieved that. Thank NRE for everything you've done over the years.

Honest George is as real and truthful as they come. In my 26 plus year career, Iv'e met some of the most gear-headed "Brainiac Dudes" In the military. And they all had a few things in common, Most didn't give a rats ass about what you think! And, most were never finished with their cars/ motorcycles. R.C's But, all of them were unique in their own rain-man zones! Oh, And I had a SGT who built a castle on his computer, 1 Brick at a time!! can't make this junk up!

It's a sleeper because the "1.3 bumblebee motor" that normally goes bingggg....bing BiiiiiiiINGGG...... suddenly goes BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBBBBBB; the sound a bad ass built V8 makes.

Enjoyed watching this one. Used to see this body style of Rx7 tuned in Japan with 3 rotor twin turbo or big single T4 turbochargers and they disappeared quick on launch. This brings back memories except with a twin turbo V8 monster different style with awesome effects. Would really like you to build a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that is identical to the Bandit with the stars and bars except with one of your small block 427 twin turbo monster motors and then they can do a Bandit movie with this car and watch that Bandit go....

Super fast in a straight line. A gen 1 SBC is not "new technology" - even with an extra turbo and fuel injection. Sleeper means you can't tell from the outside what is under the hood. Aside from the cage and slicks, all bets are off when you start the car. Fail! lol That center gage cluster is adorable. It looks like a daisy. George looks like a good guy. I hope he enjoys it for a long time.

@Arcticun In a factory RX7, the motor does not come past the strut towers. An LS1 does not only put weight further forward than that, but raises the centre of gravity. In other words, the car would now handle worse than it did. Not that it matters now that its a drag car. My original point was mainly "why do they have to turn a cornering car into a straight line car?" Also, the 12A out of this car would weigh 375 pounds including gearbox. 13Bs arent much heavier.

There may be exceptions, but for most of the US, 91 octane gasoline is the highest rating available at normal filling stations. Here, the octane rating is achieved by averaging the motor octane number, and the research octane number (RM/2). According to Wikipedia, Australia is one of the places in the world that uses only the research octane number. That means we are four or five points lower for the same fuel.

@emeraldages ? Having Hoosiers does not take much away from the 'sleeper' aspect of this car. I could stare at the outside appearance of this car for hours, and still be blown away when I found out what was under the hood, not to mention how much power the engine makes, AND who is driving the beast! @Arcticun Was it tested on a race circuit? The one ive driven understeered like a front wheel drive before being near uncontrollable on exit with the monster torque and lack of grip. It had factory suspension though. My 12A weighed under 400lb including the pallet it was sitting on, and 13Bs arent much different aside from slight thickening of the rotor housing. Did the 13B have an automatic or manual transmission on it?

@Mr04fordranger No, it can be a 427 and STILL be a small block...there are 434 cubic inch small blocks as well. Of course there are also big block 427s as well. And then there are 427 (or even 454) LSx motors that are sometimes called small blocks too.

I owned a first generation RX-7 similar to that and really wanted to do the v-8 swap...something milder than this perhaps, though...that is some wicked stuff. That car is fun to drive with a 100 HP rotary, and without AC and with a mild small block engine you don't upset the balance that much. Same handling, 300 HP 300 FT/LB...good times.

some tuning companies have bored and stroked an ls7 vette engine to 500 cubic inches (8.3L) usually you cant bore a turbo motor much though, so its typically 427 for turbos and 434 or 454 for n/a sb's

A sleeper is a car that looks relatively stock but is actually a mechanical beast under a stock body. The term sleeper is also used for computers where on the outside, it looks like a beige 1990's piece of crap but has actually got the top of the line parts inside. Just because you're wrong doesn't mean everyone is a know it all.
