Please do not confuse a "State of California" warning as a product actually containing a toxic amount of lead. Also there had been some warning above that told to always wear protective eye wear. By what I heard about US product warnings, I could imagine that there is some warning there as well, telling you to not try to ride the bike while it is still locked.

True. Don't laugh, but I still use a 6230i (made in about 2002, still on the original battery, and recharged once every month or so), and turned off the startup chime on day 1 of ownership. Can't abide unnecessary and off-tune jingles.

I sincerely hope you used the steel-tipped boots, gloves, protective eye wear and a dust mask like the packaging tells you. A bike lock that requires all that protective gear is sure to be a quality product!

I found a lock that ac tually seems decent, it's the AreoX Smart Fingerprint U lock. I found an older version and it had a smiley keyway but it was hidden well and couldn't find any other exploits. It's a bit expensive but i haven't found any corners that were cut making it so far. I just don't know if the new one is as good as the older one or if they actually improved it.

I just have a cheap cable bike lock which so far has been "good enough" to ward off the casual thief looking to grab an unlocked bike but then it's not left alone very long either. an hour at the most when i'm at the store grabbing something. probably could cut it with a cheap pair of pliers. the keys and lock are tiny and really fumbly (awkward to hold onto) so maybe that would make someone lose interest in attempting to pick the lock. It would be practically CHEESE for a big bolt cutters or wire cutters to cut right through like butter though. I guess it's still better than nothing though lol

I've got a couple of combination cable bike locks I bought years ago. Would you be interested in testing one? They've held up really well and I know from experience that standard bolt cutters wont work on them. I'm interested in whether or not you can pick OR decode your way into them. @@bosnianbill No such luck mate. I've used these locks to lock-up push-bikes without problems, that's why I ask! I will also add I've not seen a lock similar to them in many years. I will also add they their combination can be changed too. I also think you'd enjoy a look at one at the very least, perhaps?

thats the issue. the cheap ones are nearly always junk. there has been a few good ones at this price, i recall a blue chinese one with folding straps for bikes

@@bosnianbill You don't need to steal it right away... Also, note that security experts do break into things to show vulnerabilities. Compared to that, you would do only very little to show how fast an unnotices such a pick can be.

@@tomhejda6450 they are asked and paid to do it. If you do it without being hired, its a crime. Though im not sure how this would be charged in the case that someone simply went into a store and picked open a pad lock or 10. I suppose that it would be considered destruction of property if no actual attempt to steal could be proven. Technically simply opening the lock doesnt imply intent to steal. But it could be argued that it takes a new product to used and if the store doesnt sell used product they have then been deprived of the value of their property. Even if they sell used product it could be seen that way. Theres also the issue that carriage of picks CAN be in and if itself a crime should one not be licensed or whatnot. Even if thats not the case where you live, using picks in the comission of a crime can be a separate charge or an enhancing element in some places. Could be enough to take a misdemeanor to a felony. Like he says stay safe and stay legal.

I did when pac locks started showing up, and the general manager was checking out the product and scoffing on the price.. saying nobody is paying that for a lock when you can get the best master lock for 1/4 the price.. the other worker said he watches LPL and tried to explain, so I walked up and grabbed my Visa pick kit and raked a bunch of masters and then tried to pick the pac with shitty tiny picks.. with only 1 open lucky.. then he said well no duh you can open these your a lockpicker.. I died.. handed him a comb rake and he opened one in 10 seconds.. he jumped with joy and put it back on the shelf and said sold.. master lock is junk..

This was a bit underwhelming. Not testing the shackle's strenght or anything, just raking(or giggling, whatever) it open and it's junk ? I've seen you open multiple "quality" lock with the same technique and they weren't qualified as junk, or did i miss something ?
