The horrific numbers of how many times we've killed the wrong person is unacceptable in every way. That said, I am completely against strong sentencing and utterly and completely for as many perks as we can possible get for prisoners. Until we can prove free will exists, you cannot ever put someone behind bars for a period of years unless your justice system is one of rehabilitation. It truly isn't their fault. It's just the bad luck of them getting that criminal brain from birth. Thus, the only moral pathway is to lock them up until the very moment they are rehabilitated. I don't have 7 years of prison time - or any prison time. I do a lot of activism hearing people's criminal justice horror stories - like where they went in for a few months, got Hep C and then died. My schooling and career path was law enforcement - although I never entered employment. All I saw was police corruption during all my ride alongs and applicant testing. The cops took gifts, drove through every light, bragged about how they used police codes to illegally bring weapons into the state. I also was a juror in a trial that put someone away for 25+. What I saw was the prosecutor and public defender laughing together about how dumb the criminal client was, and how they were gonna go get some drinks together afterward. Lastly, I wrongly went to jail for 5 months and charged with 4 felonies, 10+ years in prison hanging on me. Cleared of all of them, but I couldn't sue them because they ALSO falsely declared me mentally incompetent to push pills on me. What I saw in jail was a gulag. It was inhuman treatment of every single inmate. The cops treat you as if you're a murderer and call you as such even if you aren't guilty yet! Our toilets leaked urine and feces everywhere, everyday! ALWAYS. If you wanted to use the phones you had to stand in a carpeted river of piss that sloshed under your sandals. 95% of the inmates were homeless. HMMM Red flags much???? There was zero rehabilitation, of any kind, at all, ZERO. All the USA criminal justice system does is create 2 victims instead of 1. These nasty, disgusting pedos deserve HELP, not revenge!!!!

They might be freaks to yall but what yall fail to realize is most of these individuals were victims of the very behavior they repeat often repeating the same age that these things were done to them and those that did it got away with it or perhaps they didnt get away but the trauma and wound was inflicted upon them and never dealt with, its an issue that needs therapy and counciling both before they end up in prison and while they are in prison. If you struggled with something just an example if you struggled with alcohol or cussing you wouldnt want people calling you a freak and treating you like trash for it you would want someone to show you the correct way to deal with your issues. Society failed them as does the justice system sending them to prison often makes things worse correction officers dont correct inmates by dealing with the issues instead they ignore the issues which often creates more issues because they are put in with people guilty of other crimes. The idea of locking someone in prison is to make sure they dont end up back in prison especially for the same crime that got them there to begin with. Believe it or not i try to talk to people before they end up commiting a crime and going to prison but because theres not enough people doing it i get hate bullied and treated worse than criminals and no one really listens because theres to many people feeding bad and negative behaviour which often causes people to fall into the system and commiting crimes. My blood boils when people commit acts against children but no more than it boils when another person hurts another or eggs on bad and negative behaviour because evil in general makes my blood boil. Evil wickedness and darkness are the true enemies wished more people would realize this and fight evil rather than giving into it so easily, its not always commiting the act thats bad its entertaining the wrong thoughts or ideas thats bad and without guidance, direction and positive influences those thoughts or ideas get worse until they are physically done.

Should the "stigma" of being an offender or ex-convict or whatever, be part of the punishment, or seperate? After jail time, are you really "exonerated"/ have you truly done you time ? The idea of prison sentencing seems to infer that. Are prisons just places we put people we can't habilitate? Maybe no one person should be allowed to decide this, since feelings are "subjective" by nature, and because of this vigilantism exists?

There's a reason you hear more about florida crimes than other states. First, it's a large and populated state. Second, Florida has much broader public records laws like the "Sunshine Act" which gives the public and the media access to crime reports almost immediately after they happen, such as daily booking report that's posted basically as soon as a person is booked into jail which allows reporters quicker access to details. It's the reason why Florida Man exists, since reporters are able to publish unusual/weird/sick stories quicker and with more details than basically any other state. If the laws were the same across the country you'd see just as much fucked up shit coming out of every other state.

The priority is the safety of our children, but it is not clear how far we need to what extreme we need to go with prevention. If child abuse truly has no remedy capital punishment could be more merciful than permanent facial branding. How could a person with such a mark survive in any society?
