I’m saying no to babysitting. As a stay at home mom, it’s assumed that I’m available to watch everyone else’s kids. But I decided to stay at home to have special one on one time with my own. ❤️

I said no to Facebook and Instagram a few years ago and it made a world of difference in my anxiety and contentment. I still use youtube but I find it doesnt have the same mindless scrolling effect as the other two, I can choose to watch something thats helpful instead of hurtful. Thanks for your videos, I always enjoy what you have to say and find it very helpful and encouraging.

I’ve just quit a high profile job to return to my first job - working as a goldsmith at a local jeweller. I say no to pointless zoom meetings, a second mobile phone, high pressure, no weekends and say yes to a mindful occupation that turns old stuff into new, serves the local economy and moreover, myself. After a breast cancer scare I re-evaluated my life and didn’t want to carry on to feel chased and stressed. I cannot wait to start this calmer way of life. I know I will be a better mum and wife soon. Xx

Such a great video idea!! I started saying no to chick flick/romance movies about eight years ago when I got engaged. I proudly say “no” when people tell me to stop letting my kids sleep in my bed. They’re only little once, and I love the snuggles. In therapy, I spend a lot of time working on being okay with living without constant extreme stimulation. It all stems back to my childhood where my environment was chaotic and unstable so that’s been my “norm”. Love this, Margaret! I’ve been saying no to too many social engagements. I’m an introvert and, as much as I absolutely love getting to know people and spending time with the people in my life, sometimes too many social engagements just drain me of energy and bring me stress. Im choosing to really be intentional about saying yes to the things that really fuel me positively, but saying no to things that just take time away from spending with my kids and my husband. I don’t have to fill up my calendar, and I know that saying no to too many play dates or parties helps me and my family function better.

He is a retired Army drill sergeant, so he can be tough and have high standards. He always expects me to answer him immediately regardless of what is going on in my wife/mom moments. I (try to!) say no to practicing conversations I want to have, particularly convos I want to have with my boyfriend - i.e. talking to myself as if I was talking to him, and hoping I get around to actually having that conversation. I used to do this heaps to help with the fact that I'm a verbal processor and need to talk stuff out, but I've actually found that this just indulges every little anxiety or pet peeve that really doesn't need a conversation, or airtime in my mind, and it also creates a false sense of intimacy and on-the-same-page-ness, because I FEEL like he gets where I'm at and how I feel, before I've ever actually communicated it with him - and a lot of the time *I don't even get there.* Instead, I've started journalling my thoughts - it's slower, less anxious and rambly, and I can read it back to see if it deserves a conversation. If I do feel like it deserves a conversation, I book in a time to have a phone call with him (so it's a contained conversation) and park my thoughts there to come back to during that call. I often find that things are less of a big deal than I imagine, I don't need a big speech for him to understand me, and that organic, honest conversations are so much more rewarding than rehearsed, anxious ones. :)

I say no to saying yes all the time to other people. This started when I was serving in ministry at my church in 2013 and I ran across Lysa Teurkurst's book "The Best Yes." I learned that saying no to things that can consume my time (working on this when I am by myself now), means I have more time/resources/energy for the things that God has called me to. I love this new knowledge that has truly changed my life and made my husband and I more harmonious in our relationship with each other.

I am saying no to negativity. I can be hard on myself a lot of times, and if I surround myself with people who are always complaining, they suck me in and my whole mood just goes down. I've learned that surrounding myself with people who hype me up is just so good for my well-being. Not only because they inspire and motivate me, but because when they go into that hole themselves, I'm there to hype them up as well and at the same time it releases whatever negative thoughts I had about a situation myself.

As a stay at home mum of a toddler it’s easy to get caught up in play dates and activities and busy life everyday/week But I say No to back to back plans so that we can come home and relax, spend time being calm and centred. I know it benefits my daughter and it certainly benefits me. We will do a morning activity or play date or event then afternoons at home, or if there’s an afternoon/evening plan we spend the morning at home or next day with no plans. I love that and it’s really improved my adrenals and how I act because I personally am not someone who thrives off being busy. I love socialising and doing fun things, then I need time to also be calm and at home with some free play and home cooked food. Is anyone else like that? I find it sets us all up so much better having those mini reset days or afternoons between actions. Love this video! There’s a lot more I say no to, but that’s the first one I thought of that I implement. X

But I’ve been trying to work through those feelings and focusing on my spouse and boys and relationship with God in this season ❤️

I’m saying no to obsessing over the future. I can’t control it and worrying about it won’t do a single thing. But I’m choosing to replace that with intentionality, joy, and hope in the beautiful future that God has for me, no matter what!!

I’m saying no to doing life the way the majority of people do it-doing what everyone else is doing because that’s the way it’s always been done. Nope! Our family does what’s best for us, and we do not care what other people think. It’s a freeing way to live!

I’m learning to saying no to continually upgrading; including for more “ intentional living “. You can just as easily get caught up in that cycle with good stuff as you can with crappy stuff.

I agree with your mention that its pretty hard to have a perfect neat and clean home especially with family and small kids around. You cannot expect things to be in the exact location and everything to be perfect. Learning to be content with what you have at home and taking care of what you already have at home makes you more mindful and personally I feel home is where the heart is. Organizing and keeping things in one place is different than trying to make everything be perfect.

I’m saying no to thinking that I should be at a different point in life based on my age. It’s easy to think that certain milestones should have been accomplished or that we aren’t doing enough but sometimes what we had envisioned for our lives is not what God planned for us. I just keep repeating “times and seasons” in my mind and it really helps! By the way I had never heard of the hertz thing but it makes so much sense. Looks like I have some research to do haha. Loved this video, thanks for sharing!

I'm saying no obsessing about what I'm eating and how much. The moment I start obsessing, I start overindulging because I go immediately into a scarcity/fight or flight mindset and end up binging and hating and then trying to restrict. I've started to just listen to my body, ignoring structured meal times, and just letting my body tell me what it needs, how much and when. I'm healthier, fitter, and a whole lot happier.

The "not having to win all the time" really hit close to home. I think we've built a culture that does prioritize perfection/strength over weakness so reminding ourselves that it's good admitting your limitations is good

I'm saying no to taking things personally, whether it's from my own friends or family. I choose my own struggle and I'll not make and feel like other people's problems are my own. I have to focus on what and who matters most to me ❤

I’m saying no to holding on to resentment from what others have said to me that was hurtful! I realize it says more about them and is not my fault. I’m learning to forgive more easily like the Bible says to do but sometimes I will still feel resentful towards that person. I’m also a recovering people pleaser as well.

I got rid of Instagram in January and though it’s only been two months, they have been the most freeing and happiest months yet. I’ve never met a soul that regretted getting rid of Instagram or any social media outlet. When you come to the realization that absolutely no one has it all together, life becomes easier!

We only use Redmond's Real Salt too and I'm going to even buy the tiny travel sized one for travel from now on. Table salt is garbage. My husband and I are strict keto so we use a lot of salt and I need to feel good about what we put in our bodies! Great video!

Very grateful for your videos!🙏 *~Lord please continue to guide us.~* I'm saying no to public school now. I'm on a journey to learn more about self directed education. I'm a "stay at home mom with 4 children 15, 13, 5 & 3 years old. I can no longer see my children cry when it's time to get on the school bus. I'm realizing how much I really do teach them throughout the day. Cheers to always learning! Life has been a journey. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I absolutely love your channel Margaret. I am saying no to comparing myself to others. I have struggled with this for years. Social media has so much to do with this. I am also very intentional about the channels I watch on You Tube. I am Sheri and live in Massachusetts. I have been married for 35 years and have two adult children ages 32 & 28. God bless you and your family. Look forward to your videos every week!!

I’m saying no to double standards for people. I am not allowed to talk to other coworkers on slow days at work, but my other coworkers can talk to everyone else and it’s accepted. I am saying “no” to giving a shi* anymore and am allowing myself to be human and communicate with people I enjoy, whether I’m at work or not.

Hi Margaret! I've been watching your content for some time and I can say it out loud - you are my favourite person on this platform. I resonate so much with your thoughts and life approach. Everything you say is so interesting and smart. Every video on your channel is so special! During this hard time (I am form Poland and we help our neigbours Ukrainians due to the war and live in a high stress level as for now) you content is calming, it gives me a space in my mind and also helps me not to forget to take care of myself. Thank you for being here!
