This year's Polaris, last year's Summit. should have brought the G4, the total square inch on the 16 165 is on par with the 15 174.

Interestingly, I bought a T3 174 in '16, the spring order only X package... and this year put it up with a good friend's RMK 174...both of us riding in the famous Rabbit Ears area in Colorado, and both of us being fiercely loyal to our machines, I love my T3 174, and my friend who was all mouth about how incredible the RMK 174 is... after having both sleds out in the deep, he now wants my T3 174 and is trading his RMK on the '18 G4 175...actions speak louder than words - thanks to my T3 174!!

I've ridden both in 155. The summit is a little easier to throw around than the rmk, but the rmk is more predictable. That factor was the deal for me. Both are easy to ride, but I knew what the axys was going to do whereas the summit was catching me off guard a lot.

Honestly never riden a mountain sled. But have ridden other stuff. I have a question. So the skidoo doesn't have as much power because it push around 160 at sea level and the polaris push 100-165? Also wouldn't the front end lifting up have to do directly with power? More power the easier it wheelies? Expecially when it isn't lighter?
@cthom5190
@cthom5190 7 жыл бұрын
Jacob Bruce Coming from a mountain rider... this is a completely biased review of both Sleds and coming from somebody that has rode both the Skidoo and Polaris 174's in the mountains a lot. The Skidoo defiantly has more power and it may have to do with the setup of the machine. It also feels lighter then the Polaris. The Skidoo is more fun to ride and may have its quirks but we have had to 174 skidoos since 15 and haven't changed a belt yet. Haven't had any problems with it never bent a bulkhead like they claim or even an a-arm for that matter it's a flat out lie what there telling you on the durability side of things. We've have a 174 Polaris since the spring of last year as Polaris sent us a demo sled and we've bent a total of 5 a-arms. Broken the carbon fiber bumper off in powder climbing a hill and coming over backwards. And we also took a belt at a little over 100 miles. So take it as you will.

RLC This is an honest thank you. Not sarcastic. But thanks. cause I've personally thought that it was mainly power. I do realize though that rear suspension does play a factor but didn't even know about coupled and uncoupled suspension.

As soon as you said the Polaris has more power than the ski Doo, yup Polaris paid you a lot to put this vid out, I’ve ridden both sled and wow the RMK feels like your rideing a lumber wagon, the summit may have some structure problems but a couple simple bolt ones built by aftermarket company’s makes them nice and rigid, oh and not to mention when you get out in sticky snow the RMK picks up well over 100lbs in snow where as the summit only was picking up like 70-80lbs of snow. Sorry but I’m real world where we all have to start off at the same level and not paid to promote a specific sled the summit has more than its given here.

Summit better handle- come in guys on what drugs your are? Summit has less weight on front- are you really ride them? Summit even G4 not that good in handle as axys- i am telling as owner of both sleds It doesn't mean summit bad - he is not that good as Axys in all yiur point. g4 good in power- in rest- no but it on my opinion Rear suspension of summit- they not even have proper springs on...

I really don't understand the purpose of a 174" track being powered by an 800 2 stroke? It's not like you get the track speed to run big chutes effectively? You're also giving up a good deal of mobility in the trees, I'm at a loss here....
@tysonj4688
@tysonj4688 7 жыл бұрын
174" track works better in the trees. Much better floatation/ traction for mtn riding. The shorter tracked machines feel underpowered in deep snow even with same chassis and engine after riding the 174. Its all about traction you are able to put more power to the snow as well as climb up on the snow better. Although the new G4 850 165" is even better than an 800 174" that's because of better power to weight and rumor is the 2018 850 will be available in 174" which will be an animal
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 7 жыл бұрын
Tyson James Call me crazy but I never once felt like the 163+ tracked sleds felt better in the trees than a 153" or even a Freeride 146, the turn better in my opinion and tip easier. Yes the lack of flotation means you need to carry more momentum, but it's a small tradeoff no? I understand a 174" if say you've got a turbo Yami and run big chutes, but I honestly can't see a sub 100hp (elevation) 800 2 puff being all that good at chutes.
@tysonj4688
@tysonj4688 7 жыл бұрын
I guess its all how you like to ride and what terrain your in. Where I ride when there is deep powder you go places you simply cannot go on short track sleds I'm talking thick trees and steep slope, occasionally hopping over logs etc. The way they gear the Ski Doo 174 combined with the amount of traction makes it plenty powerful and its more like 125 hp at 10,000 feet. I also have a turbo Cat M8 162 and it takes 8+ pounds of boost to make it run with the 174. I will say that in the late spring when the snow sets up and turns to crap the shorter tracks are more exciting to ride
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 7 жыл бұрын
Tyson James Yeah I guess that's where we differ, I don't really ride dense forest and much slope at the same time (it's either one or the other). I'm still fairly new to mountain riding which is why I have the questions ha ha. Just from my own personal trails I've found the 800's to be a little soft on power (I ride a turbo Yami) and just couldn't see them being capable of getting a whole lot of track speed with a big 174" track. I'm spoiled with power, but not with agility thanks to my sled being fairly heavy, I just couldn't imagine my sled being fun in the trees with an even heavier setup and more track to have to turn.

Ross Keene Ahh no worries, and yes I agree, no other two strokes are as smooty running as the etecs, very efficient engines. I just wished they didn't have that dopey sealed bottom end, at least the new 850 addressed this.
@rosskeene1913
@rosskeene1913 7 жыл бұрын
William Stewart they went through and basically gave a 2-stroke the longevity of a 4-stroke using diesel technology and design. the axys in some cases would feel like it had more power but I think it much more do to the lightness than the engine. in the end I bought a 14 summit X 154 and am very happy I did that instead of the axys
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 7 жыл бұрын
Ross Keene Yes the lack of weight on the RMKs is impressive, but they also hold the most snow while riding bringing them up there with the others anyways. The "cheap " tradeoff isn't worth it in my opinion, the Doos just feel better built in my opinion.
