The videos look great and I know what you mean about moving from tapes to flash media. I shoot with the same camera and one thing that I do to make sure that things stay in focus is keeping it in aperture mode with a higher f/stop and a mono pod to keep things stable while making sure your arm doesn't get tired. Other wise, I love the videos and that cars and I hope to visit the shop one of the days with one of my cars* =)

Nice to know for my own, now unreliable 2M100, but since the new type of starter motor does NOT require any intervention on the engine upon removing while the 2M100 does, I'm not in a hurry to get it apart. The spire rings as they are called needs renewing everytime according to Porter. John still hopes you can re-use the old ones.. Maybe one day I'll prove one of them wrong or right...

John, you keep saying you're running out of time on your videos and I remember back in the day when you used to try to get them done in the (then) allotted 7 minutes but you have up to 15 minutes and probably more available on youtube now.

Really nice to see how the whole assembly goes together - I hadn't understood the way the solenoid pre-engages the starter. Naughty question - I'm using an MGB engine and gearbox in my oldtimer replica car built around a Locost spaceframe chassis and the solenoid assembly gets in the way of the chssis - is there a starter motor which would work without that solenoid arrangement underneath it?
