The way I see it: 1. You're providing entertainment. 2. You're providing educational content. 3. You're honing your repair skills. 4. You're honing your video making skills. 5. You're spending quality time with your family. 6. You're boosting your subscriber base. 7. You're improving your skills in recognizing a good deal. 8. You know the machine inside and out so you can spot problems in the future and be able to repair them. 9. You know which parts are new on your machine and exactly what you have. 10. You spent less than buying a new one. 11. The machine got put to use instead of going to the dump. 12. You can take pride in your achomplishment. 13. You got it fixed cheaper than taking it to a shop. 14. You persevered and got the job done when others might have thrown in the towel. A great character trait to teach your son and I'm sure many other young people watching. 15. If you choose to sell the motorcycle in the future you've greatly increased the value.

My fiancee phoned me from work the other day complaining that our strimmer (weed wacker) wasn't working. I have been watching your videos for a while and decided I'd try fix it myself. So I got home and remembered some great advice you gave before. Add some fuel and try fire it up. It worked 2nd pull :D

In my opinion, you spent 100-some dollars on the bike and have already starting putting some work into it. I wouldn't feel bad at all about completely rebuilding that thing. Like you said, that way you know you have a new engine and if you were to buy another used bike, you never really know what you're getting. Plus parts for those things are so dirt cheap. I think the PW is the most manufactured bike ever or something like that. I can't wait until my boy starts wanting more power out of his. Him and I are going to go all out and rebuild it with a big bore, over sized carb, performance ignition, FMF exhaust and all that jazz. I'll still probably still have less in it that buying a new one and it will be a mean little machine until he is ready for a Cobra or KTM. Awesome series though! Thanks for putting it out.

i wouldn't use the new bottom end, strip it down along with the one your currently using then make 1 good bottom end out of 2 then one you brought might have some horrors lurching on the inside due to it being exposed to the elements, inspect each barrel and see which one has less scoring, hopefully you might be able to get away with just a honing, not a re-bore/ re skin, as for the head just for warping, lay it on a sheet of glass make sure it doesn't look like a speed bump, have you checked the reeds, if their the plastic type which would be ''stock Yamaha'' bend them out slightly, prolongs the life, if their not plastic i suggest getting some the beauty is if they get sucked in its not going to chew up the bottom end (experience cough) also for the love of god please drain that lawn mower 2 stroke, causes carbon to build up like a mother****** smokes and just all around bad performance, also burn out any carbon build up deposits in the exhaust heat gun/ diesel will do, will make the bike run allot smoother, whilst your in their stripping and swapping components in the crank case and cylinder might be worth getting a new top end bearing, seems like they have both have failed as seen with the scoring on the previous episode, all the best, 2 strokes are always a hassle but when done right, great bit of kit.

Just sold a pw-80. they are some durable little bikes! most likely it is the reed valves like mine was. if they are worn out they wont respond like they should. so as you see i am commenting on this video because i havent watched any others, so maybe you have figured it out. also on a 2-stroke if you have any oil dripping on the floor then you dont have a good seal. im sure you know this shit. lol

Just for a solid big end assembly, that's a dam good price :-D. There is one on ebay.com for $150 (not working!!), $40 is bugger all. Even in the u.k thats dirt cheap, about £30 ish. You have two engines to mix and match, just don't take it too serious, it's not the end of the world if it's no good.
@jenniesgarage7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouragement that I didn't pay too much. I hope between the two, I'll be able to put together a good bottom end. The good thing about these low budget projects is that regardless of what happens I won't lose the farm.

Tbh buying something that either doesnt run or runs poorly virtually guarantees that it runs really really nice when you finally get on it. Something that already runs you wont even look at and just hop on and go. If this bike ran fine you'd never have seen half of these problems and woulda ended up dealing with something way way worse. Sorta like that Yamaha video more recently. It sorta started so you didnt look at the bottom end. When you eventually did (because of course you did) you found chunks of teeth that woulda destroyed it had you not taken it all the way apart.

Don't put 2 stroke fuel in the tank that's why it is fuel injected so the gas gets mixed with oil the amount that it needs. So put regaler gas in the tank, and oil in the oil tank
