I dusted off the TE250 /TE300 and took it on its first substantial trip. I try to provide some riding impressions and casual conversation.

With the big bore kit you could easily drop a couple teeth on the back sprocket. You will still have low end and have a better onroad experience.

love your videos. husky-wise, i owned a 2006 te-510 & now have a 2019 fe-450. awesome bikes. my te-510 had the close-ratio 6-speed which was my only issue with it, because you could either gear it for off-road or on-road, not both. my fe-450 has a very tall 6th gear, so it can handle both. i highly recommend the fmf q4 muffler for your te-250/300. totally worth it.

Yes the new single cylinder big bores have loud top ends especially when you dont have aftermarket exhaust to drown the top end out. Run full synthetic mobile 1 it should help some. Add a tooth to the front sprocket much easier than messing with the rear and cheaper.

I customize/maintain my bikes as if it was something that will save my life down the track...no shortcuts on my menu. Congrats to your better half is in order too with her patience assisting the filming whilst you researched & built the bike, you've got a keeper there mate! About your motovlogging question: Yes, just let the camera run through the whole ride. Just get a nice 64GB card for the camera, so you don't have to always be taking the footage off. I usually just let me camera roll while I ride, anyway (good "insurance" policy), so a large SD card really helps. As for wind-noise, yours really isn't too bad! But if it does become a larger issue for you, just put the microphone in a cotton swab and it should fix it without muffling it. Hope that helps!
@LibertyRocks546 жыл бұрын
All modern 4 strokes are notoriously noisy from the Top end, nothing to worry about. As long as your valves are adjusted correctly and the noise doesn't progressively get louder. I have owned over a dozen newer 450s and a couple 250s back n the day, they all sound the same. My latest toy is a 2016 yz450f and it sounds like the rest ive owned, its nerve racking, but nothing to worry about. Now im looking forward to getting a new 2018 yz450f w electric start and all the new goodies it comes with... great vids, best of luck!!

Ditto on the previous comment regarding rear sprocket, big bore kit significantly increases torque I would think a couple of teeth down on rear sprocket and maybe one up on gearbox one aswell, big boost to top end. Cam chain tensioner maybr, but remember these engines have seriously short skirt on piston, so could be that. Anyway great video, as like all your videos. Keep up the good work, you are helping the planet recycling all these metal parts

First off I love your videos. Nice guy and family and very good on mechanics. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION! YES THEY ALWAYS HAVE A RATTLE. I don't know what but I think mine had a little valve rattle no matter what I did. I even over tightened them to try and get it reduced but it is always there man. As far as what the bike is worth, you should consider selling it to someone who is on the East Coast. That bike is well worth more than you are thinking. If it was me I would keep it. very dependable, you know what you have and it will last a long time.

I used to commute on a motorcycle about 12 years ago unless there was snow or the temps were around freezing. I didn't stop because I couldn't "hack it" but because so many people were doing things other than driving while behind the wheel. Just wasn't worth it. a good chunk of my riding buddies started to race or switched to riding on dirt. The fact is when you're against even a small car you're gonna lose. I'll probably get another bike at some point but for a "daily" I'll have to opt for a "cage"...

Not a motorcycle guy but in my past hobbies I used many small bore power plants. When breaking in any new ones I was advised to run in at low loads at fairly high rpm to create the wear ledge in the cylinders or cylinder liners as high as possible because if they wear in at a lower rpm the rings will not be very happy when asked to travel farther up the bore later. Just a small query after watching your moderation in first usage. Thanks for the entertaining videos you upload...
@rotax636nut55 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine borrowed his uncles old car which his uncle had always driven carefully and slowly for a high mileage, my friend of course ragged the heck out of it and the result was all the top piston rings got broken, which was due to the rings impacting the wear ridge at the top of the bore as you mention!

I figured the KE100 would be a good bike to learn to fix first. I dont think they get much simpler than the KE100. Ive worked on lots of cars, but man bike is different haha. I think my first step is to clean the carb and tank. Then well take it from there. hahah.

I bought a 01 raptor 660 in 07, my son and I rode hard it but my kid abused it & banged it up bent axl 2 a-arms n rims tires ect ect. Even tho it was in need of maintenance it is still unmolested like not hacked or trashed spray painted ect. up other than some upgrades like white brothers slip on hot cam that were done b4 i bought it so it still seemed like decent machine, like a survivor! Soouple yeas ago i fixed and replaced bout everything it needed and further upgrades. When it was over i about puked. I had invested about 2k! BUT $250 was for a fmf headpipe that was defective and i never got reimbursed (sucked) so about $1750 is whats into it then had carb issues got pissed an let year and half then had put few hundred into to freshen it up and few things over years like clutch ect. With the original purchase price of $2400 in 07 i now have well over $2000 extra in a machine worth about 2k. I know the use over the years causes depreciation but these machines in decent shape kinda plateau to about $1500 to $2000 depeding on shape. So b investing over $2000 into it gained me nothing so now that im 45 now and have very little interest in riding a hopped up sport wheeler I'll just keep it take it out for few min get a dose of adrenaline an park it for another 2 months... Sounds pretty pointless but its been such a good reliable machine that has never let me down i cant bear to part with it. Maby fab up some chassie mods like lower it and fab up wheelie bar and take it to drag strip n beat on it, now that would be fun.

Another great video also on a side note if you or your brother or both are paying property taxes the violent gang of people that call themselves " government " are forcing you to rent the land that your house is on. It is what people like myself refer to as " Property Rental Extortion Fees " and yes there is a way to combat it if you have a way to find the knowledge and use it! One of the best ways I found is to listen to some recorded IRS phone calls of shame right here on youtube just search for " Marc Stevens : Call of Shame Playlist "
