Don't worry about us not wanting you to talk 'so much', Bill. I'll bet the vast majority of us that watch your videos like and appreciate what you have to say. You're funny and informative, and are constantly giving us new insights, and I, at least, am fascinated by what you and the locks end up going through to get to your videos. Thanks for sharing with us.

Pls dont', "shut up Bill." I find huge value as a newbie lockpicker AND simple entertainment/interesting content from your ongoing, sometimes stream-of-consciousness narration. So many Sportpicking channels only show wins and rarely when they have challenges. Your narration helps me feel not so pathetic in my adventures and introductory exploration of the wide world of picking locks and bypassing security. (Incidentally, you have also helped me make better decisions regarding the physical and electronic security of my house.) Your narration * significantly * improves the video. I learn very little these days from watching LPL effortlessly open locks and it results in me being discouraged when I have challenges. Still entertaining and I never miss a video, but not very helpful. Not that I don't have huge love for LPL, he is the reason I found LockSport and Bosnian Bill. I also gained a lot from his instructional or reflective videos and really wish he would do more on that. However, as a newbie, your channel is far-and-away more helpful and encouraging to a newbie lockpicker. .

i totally agree. I have never been bored by anything he ever said. In fact, a lot of interesting information comes when he gets a little off topic and dives into history or techniques of manufacturing etc. Every time I hear the 'stop rambling' or 'stop flapping your lips Bill' I am like, "Nooo, keep yapppin, this is the educational and interesting part!" Picking the lock and taking it apart is cool, too, but your knowledge about the lock industry, national and international is so great that I could listen to you for an hour or even 30 minutes 😉

Thanks for that tip. I have a rather cheap lock that's been kicking my rear, did the zip and it popped open. Found out playing later it acts like a 4 pin but just barely lifting pin 3 opens the lock. Terrible bitting. Now the only one left in my naughty bucket is this American 5530. Its crunchy so I know it's got serrated key and driver pins. Have yet to even remotely get it open. Countering the extreme spring tension is the hard part. How about giving away one of them sweet vises!! I'll give one a good home!!

I could listen to you rabbiting on for days on end Bill. Never cease...

My favorite technique that I have seen you use it the one where you push all the pins up and lock them in place and slowly zip them as you slowly release the tension.

Direct locking with the core is one of the best things and yet so neglected in modern locks, all opening up to a variety of stupid attacks...

I was just thinking the same thing. If that had a more pick-resistant core, it'd be one doozy of security product.

There's a similar Russian model that we have on import here, except the shackle comes out, and it comes in pin-tumbler and dimple variants. One such padlock is welded at the end of my apartment building's parking barrier, and the shackle is welded on the pole where you lock it. I think it's a pretty clever use of what is already available on the market with minimal customization.

That "zipping" technique is basically the same thing that bump keys do.
@51-FS4 жыл бұрын
So we can zip a lock with a bump key and it will work? Nooooo
@parapicktog77344 жыл бұрын
@@51-FS no. Unlike zipping which bounces all the pins up quickly by pulling a pick OUT, bump keys are used by tapping the key IN to bounce the pins up. But in both methods the idea is that if all the pins are bounced up, with just the right tension they will all get trapped at the shear line. I believe Bill made a video of how to use bump keys if you search locklab archives

@Just_A_Dude4 жыл бұрын
In most cases if you're not worried about noise or damage to the lock, which are the main reasons not to use destructive entry, you can chop the shackle of all but the _really_ good locks with a cordless angle grinder, or large bolt cutter. For door locks it's just as simple, just swap the angle-grinder for a drill, or kick the door.
