I think a key point is that Professor Collins said he wouldn't forgive Ylva if she was " unfaithful " to him. My gut feeling is that he did it. Notes: 1) Ylva's car was found near a hotel. Keys found but no trace amounts of any hair, fiber or other elements found. It strikes me that Ylva likely drove the car to the location near the hotel. If someone else had done it they would had to use gloves to disguise finger prints. 2) The San Carlos detectives belief as per the paperwork at the time that Ylva was being held against his will made me curious.I wonder what made them consider this theory considering the lack of any evidence from the car. 3) Collins flyers claiming Ylva was "psychologically disturbed" and his insistence that she may be living amongst homeless.strikes me as outright disinformation . Based on what is known about Ylva , the woman strikes one as level headed and focused. After all this is a woman who was balancing attending one of the best universities in the country to get a Masters Degree with working as a marketing executive at a small Tech company . This doesnt strike me as a woman who will suddenly have a nervous breakdown and leave everything to be homeless. 4) Frankly Its hard for me believe that Collins didnt at least know what happened or what may have happened to Ylva. His failed lie detector aside, Collins flyer was quite frankly suspicious. It's clear to me that was done to clearly divert people as regard Ylvas search. In fact I'm.convinced this was the reason. I look at Collins and wonder why if say Collins was behind Ylva disappearance that he chose this tactic of a separate flyer with a number . I mean this was not only odd but rather inappropriate. It also would have clearly created considerable suspicion . Why not simply help out by offering a statement to the press or even just keep a low profile? Why engage in a weird tangent like this ? Its both illogical yet diabolical at the same time . 5) The best theory I can state is that Ylva clearly left the office sometime after a phone call. I gather she drove her own car.close to the hotel. I think. once she left the car either something sadly terrible happened to her or she was taken somewhere else . I'm certain either Collins was involved directly or indirectly .

Just not enough information to go on. Collins seems creepy but why would you murder a woman and then (anonymously) hire a private investigator to find her? A Finance Professor would also recognize the high risk premium for murder. Seems like a nerdy proto-stalker but that's not enough to convince me he killed her. Seems like she was a sweet, gifted, free spirited yet disciplined woman. Right place, right time, right industry to obtain enormous wealth. Terrible loss.

Hiring a P. I. Seems like an attempt at creating a "red herring" & reasonable doubt for the eventual investigation. If he maticulously thought everything out he very well could have thought that posing an alternative theory in her having a mental break & living amongst the homeless & then hiring a p. I. To investigate his fake theory would be enough to allow him to avoid lasting suspicion & to an extent he would have been correct in that sense.
@1rjbrjb2 жыл бұрын
@@dustinspeicher3390 Good point.. Yes. It could have been 3D chess. But that's putting a lot of energy and money into a diversion that is not directly exculpatory. And the murder itself would have either been impulsive or purely vindictive - no benefit. A Finance Professor would like to see a return for the risk. I suppose a malicious sadist would enjoy a hedonic dividend. I'm agnostic on the point. Creepy stalking obviously can escalate. If we believe Columbo, he's the classic murderer, clever, devious and accomplished. But Columbo is not intended as a documentary. Finance Professors as a demographic cohort represent a low actuarial risk, especially with tenure because I think murder is one of the few ways you can actually lose tenure. To be murdered by a tenured Professor of Finance is sort of a black swan event. The very worst luck. But, the creepy stalking undeniably singles him out as a suspect.
