Even though I agree with you that changing the life insurance beneficiary to the person who took her home on the day of the murder is extremely more suspicious than saving a dollar on cigarettes, due to the arrogance of the head detective in charge of the case, Ryan McCarrick and others involved in law enforcement, they never even considered that due to incompetence or depraved indifference to justice.

You can tell that Betsy's children have had a rough life and that they aren't well off, which is really sad given the fact that their mom DID have life insurance to take care of them after death, instead she was murdered, her murderer received her life insurance and used it to buy a lavish home and lifestyle for herself. Imagine how Russ felt sitting in prison knowing that his wife's murderer had not only gotten away with murdering his wife but was also spending his children's inheritance. Knowing they're out there (outside of prison) alone and not getting the care or financial support they needed. This is so disturbing.

That's the reverse sexism thing at work as well. If you look even at contemporary newspaper accounts, when there is a criminal gang, the female members are often described as having cooperated under pressure, or having been coerced. Based on nothing but assumptions. With violent crime, men are even more likely to be considered the perpetrators and the 'brains' behind the act. Sociopathic women often use men to do their dirty work and they're often not caught. (I was thinking e.g. of the collar bomb case where a woman got one guy to build a bomb, to strap it around another to rob a bank, because she wanted to use the money to hire a killer to get rid of her father...)

A year later I broke down in the shower and let it all out. I think it took a year for myself to fully realize he wasn't coming back, he wouldn't be there for important life events, etc. I think I get more emotional about it the more life goes on cause I'm being reminded of everything he's not, or will ever be, here for. that 911 call is absolutely heartbreaking, i think he was just in shock about what happened. i can’t imagine someone’s spouse examining their dead body yanno? he likely just jumped to the conclusion due to her history. Also the whole “don’t you think i would’ve made sure the change went through?” gives me SEVERE diane downes energy

Yes!!!!!!! And literally anyone that ever dodges like that is always guilty. "Did you do it?" "If I did, don't you think I would have done it better?" In other words, "I didn't lie cuz I didn't say no!" Sickening

This is one of the craziest cases I've ever heard in my life, and I've been studying true crime since I was a literal child. I believe that Pam's mother deserves justice! Seniors are often treated as if they're already dead, and if they do die by homicide, people seem to think "well, they were gonna die soon anyway". This a major form of prejudice in our country, and it does not get the attention that it deserves.

@@katelynbrown98 they're not talking about Betsy they're talking about Pam's mother, the one who was found dead having fallen off the balcony. She deserves justice and to have her death recognised too. It seems like everyone's forgetting her

So true, you're right & it's despicable that they see elderly victims that way. Her mom's life & Betsy mattered. Also, that poor, vulnerable young man she shot.

This is such a tiny detail, but as someone who works at a gas station, 100 percent can confirm so many people drive out of their way to get their cigarettes a little cheaper. Glad justice is finally happening!

This girls situation really hit close to home. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. She was a stage 3, bc it was in her lymph nodes. After going through chemo, radiation & a single mastectomy (no construction), went into remission. She was in remission just over 4 years, then a wk ago found out my mom's cancer came back. Her scans were clear 3 mths ago, but it had traveled through the blood to her liver so she's now a stage 4. My family is really close so getting this news absolutely devastated me. Cancer really is an evil thing.

When we got to the third murder I was like, it’s official. That makes her a serial killer. And they REALLY need to look into her insurance clients too. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them died mysteriously, and if she’s the beneficiary of more policies.
