I lived in St. Pete from 87 to 2022, raised my 3 kids to adulthood there and always felt safe. My grandparents moved there in the early 60s. I dont remember hearing of this case, but I was very young and living in Ft. Lauderdale at that time. Very sad and awful to be missing at 19. My heart and prayers go out to her loved ones.

The best true crime content out there. Truly, you and Danelle Hallan have become pretty much the only true crime creators I follow. The amount of time, effort, detail, logic, and respect for victims and their families that you put into your videos does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do! I wasn't previously familiar with this case; thank you for bringing it and so many others to my awareness. I personally think Delano was responsible for this tragedy. My heart truly breaks for Bobbie's loved ones, who remain without answers after all these years.

The minute I heard they found the cushions in the back seat of her car then Steven mentioned the Winkles guy also had put cushions in a car for another of his victims to sexually assault her, I got chills up my spine. It certainly sounds like Winkles at this point. And the blonde hair!!
@MultiSmartass1
@MultiSmartass1 2 жыл бұрын
Notes: 1) Something about the details suggest that Winkles probably wasn't the perpetrator of the disappearance of Barbara . Take the car. Why take Barbara's car, drive it, reportedly get it washed and then dump it? If Winkles normally did his homework and went to lengths to prepare himself for crimes, this would directly be contradictory to his behavior and approach . If the witness who identified the car and driver at the car wash was accurate , it strikes me that if that was the un sub that this wasnt a planned action but likely a bit improvised . 2) Dan's comments strike me as a bit suspicious. He went out of his way to note that Barbara was seeing a couple of other guys. This strikes me as a little too forthcoming for a supposed fiancee to state. He also noted she had put on weight and was "fat" . This strikes me as a rather unnecessary dig at Barbara. More something a guy who was breaking with his girlfriend might say. Also he noted he wished they had found Barbara and not the car. Again I regard this as a little curious. 3) Barbara struck me as someone who didn't really want to be married and likely felt strongly enough about staying single probably to the point of putting off her wedding date and still having a dating life. If anything I think it was someone in her private life that likely had something to do with her disappearance
@pulaski1
@pulaski1 2 жыл бұрын
There was also the complicating factor that if she had ended her engagement she would likely have lost her job too - so she had a vested interest in postponing her wedding, not cancelling it entirely.
@MultiSmartass1
@MultiSmartass1 2 жыл бұрын
@@pulaski1 Good point. The impression I get was that Barbara might have still been with this guy to retain the job. It seemed like a largely do-nothing job for her. After all if she were bringing a tv to the store to watch and sun bathing at times, it's clear this wasnt a busy store.

Winkles was a planner, but he wasn't any kind of master planner by any means. Burying the bodies, unburying them, moving them, cutting off the head, retrieving his bullets from a skull, pulling out the teeth while leaving fingerprints intact, abducting a woman in a junk car with a faulty battery, moving forward when the wrong girl shows up, etc. This guy didn't have it all together, seems like kind of a clumsy guy the way he hid behind an umbrella while shooting that girl in the head. It's like he just sat around replaying his mistakes in his head and worrying about getting caught after calming down instead of doing it all right the same shot.

I don't think it's a coincidence that a serial killer was operating in the same area, scooping up women around her age while they were working and putting cushions in the backseat of cars. It likely WAS that serial killer. I DO think the relationship with her fiance was suspicious too though. IMO he's too old for her, the wedding was being put off "to figure out what they wanted to do with their lives" which is odd, the night at Pizza Hut was "the best time they had, had in a long time", and the weight comments can be a red flag too. Negative comments about a person in a tragic situation can indicate an anger/disdain toward the person. Weight gain can also mean pregnancy. (although she continued chain smoking). Weight gain can also mean lack of intimacy in a relationship. However, based on the terry cloth suit she wore (I'm pretty positive I know what kind of outfit it was) it's a pretty skimpy outfit so it doesn't sound like she was too depressed about it. It's also odd that he comments about her going out with other men and this doesn't seem to bother him at all. Then the family biz closes up. hmm..suspicious, but the serial killer is certainly something to wonder about. Especially if he's claiming 26 victims. What a shame. At this point, I wonder if her mom has ever been open to psychics helping. The only one I'd ask would be Reverend Donna Seraphina.

If he kept under garments, have they all been tested? They should still have them in evidence? I hope they will find answers someday. As more land is developed and he seemed to have certain comfort zones, they should drag and dive that river and triangulate or use the circles for a couple miles of each of the houses he used to take the women or ever loved? Did he have confidants in prison or family or friends thru life that may know places he frequented? I wonder. So sorry for her family and loved ones.

My thought is it has to be Winkles…that is if the eyewitness was right about the hair color. If you take the population of Pinellas park in 1980, the population of men that lived there , the age range, and the fact that only aprox 2-5% of the population in the USA is naturally blonde it narrows down the possible abductors quick… but you would have to assume that the eyewitness was right about the what the suspect looks like and assume that the person last seen with the car was the abductor. The MO is so similar to his all the way down to the pillows in the back of the car. The store is in the areas he would hunt and take his victims. This makes Winkles the killer in my opinion.

This channel was WAY better in it's first three years. The stories were vastly more interesting and actually scary at times. NOW, it seems he just finds moderately covered cases and PHONES them in. I don't know if it's because he doesn't have as much time anymore, or if he just doesn't want to really be doing this, either way it shows, and it takes FOREVER for a new upload when back in the day, it was EVERY month like clockwork sometimes two in a Month. Riveting, spooky and worth every minute listening. Nowadays, I find myself speeding up the video because they tend to LAG and get mundane. I understand what becoming disillusioned is like. I get that interests change as life changes and time seems to wane. I just hope he's not doing it for the numbers now, when in the early days it was clear he was passionate about this. I'm no "Troll", I've been here since day one, and loyal I will remain, hoping a bit of the old fire comes back again.. because as it stands now, this channel STINKS. That's just my two cents even if worth only that. God Bless.
