17th Century Château CHAPEL RENOVATION, Lanterns & Electrics - Journey to the Château, Ep. 244

In this Wednesday episode, Patrick and Stuart continue with the renovation and restoration of their 17th Century Château Chapel. John the electrician stops by with his big drill to install new wiring for the chapel and the exterior lantern lights. Patrick and Stuart also share information on the crowdfunding for their chapel restoration at GoFundMe ( gofund.me/6005... ). Patrick does another harvest of figs from the chateau gardens, and then is back in the chateau kitchen to try out a new recipe for Fig Mustard.

I am not crazy about mustard, but since Stewart said it doesn’t taste like the mustard that you would put on a hotdog. It did look very tasty, I certainly will try it when fig season comes again. I’m glad you’re both feeling well. I know, for example the Italian Alps had a lot of rain too in the northern part of Italy this year and the south had heat waves. Hopefully the autumn season will be enjoyable with less rain. Take care.

Thanks for thinking of us here in FL and for reminding people to listen to the local agencies and evacuate if they are are advised to do so! We are not in the cone of concern, and are safe and prepared, but are starting to feel the wind and rain pick up now. After finishing the last of the hurricane prep, my daughter and I settled down to catch our 'french chateau stuff'. The internet started to flicker halfway through the recipe, and we screamed NO at the tv, and the youtube gods took pity on us and let us finish the episode! Before we lose the interwebs, the lanterns look perfect on the chapel! I don't like mustard, either...but do like figs and said that out loud and then stuart said the same! I don't even like yellow (white guy) mustard. What does stuart like it on? 🤔 sandwiches? Or would it be good with pork loin/pork chops? Sending love to you and my fellow Floridians. So sorry you are having so much rain but I’m glad that you seem to be feeling better, Patrick. Restoring the chapel will be wonderful for many reasons, but for me if the chateau was my home, it would be a place for quiet solitude. The figs are beautiful but don’t you think they’re late because of all of the rain and lack of sunshine? The fig mustard looks delicious and something I would never have thought to pair together. My son’s in-laws are from Munich so I’m often asked to go with them to Germany. The food is delicious, but I’ve never heard of this combination. I’m going to try it. Thank you Patrick. Can’t wait till you get electricity for the chapel. I loved seeing the fig crew help. The looks yummy. Stuart that color of blue is your color,when you sit next to Patrick it complements him too. Can’t wait to watch Friday, weather here has been crazy had a tornado go right over my house, 2am May 29 it lifted a block away the house is good but, these tornadoes yes plural, took most of the trees. When I was staying in the north of Germany above Berlin, I bought some apple mustard. It is still my favourite. So you have given me an idea for what to do with my apples this year. As I don't have any figs but a glut of apples. I will try it out based on your recipe and see if it works.

You should have been suspicious, it is so green where you live. Meaning, .....it rains a lot. You need to sow Scottish Bonnetpeppers in your garden for next year's fig harvest. Delicious together.

The lights on the chapel look great. Maybe you could stick a couple of the battery operated candles in there until the electrics are installed. 🤷‍♀️Thank you for posting the go fund me link. Yes, they are still temporary. We mentioned in previous vlogs that we ordered our countertops but the company then went out of business. We have to find a new company to order them, and that is not easy to do for delivery and installation in rural France. Thanks!
