I doubt that Kim wants them to come back. A huge part of NK propaganda is that the rest of the world is a cesspool compared to NK. Having such a large number of peasants come back from the "outside" would inevitably lead to the exposure of that belief as a lie. The North Koreans failed in the Korean War. Because of surprise and unpreparedness on the US and South Korean side they were initially successful. In a matter of months, however, the combined US and South Korean force had mostly overrun North Korea reaching the Yalu River. I took 1.5M Chinese soldiers to push the South Koreans and their allies back to the borders that had existed at the beginning of the war. That took them another 2.5 years or so, with very high casualties. The thing to note is that the North Koreans in the Korean War actually had combat experience fighting the Japanese and in the Chinese Civil War. Today's North Korean soldiers have none of that.

The NK tactics are not surprising if you look at history. This is what they have always done rather like the Japanese of WW2. Mass frontal infantry attack with total disregard for their own life was a hallmark of both the Pacific and Korean wars. They were the reason why the claymore mine was developed. I assume that the Ukrainian troops are using this type of mine for the same purpose.

I feel like this is more delusional training and being stuck in NK in a bubble where you are lied to all your life that your country is the most powerful country in the world. I think a good comparison would be those fake martial arts “masters” who have lived in delusion and have their students fake how powerful the master is by throwing themselves on the ground when the master “attacks”. The moment they have to show their skills against a real master who isnt playing into the delusions they get absolutely destroyed because they cant actually fight at all. This really looks like what these “soldiers” were trained like. Its basically just sending these men to death because they are so ignorant to reality of what war is due to what they have been presented their entire lives. They go out there thinking “we are the most powerful country, our leader is the greatest, theres no way we can lose”
