For everyone complaining about his elbow sticking out, it's not that big of a deal if there's a consistent shot path to follow through that keeps the ball straight. Elbow aligned is more textbook (and how I prefer to shoot and would teach it), but it also requires a turn in the shoulders and hips to reduce shoulder strain. This makes certain movements more asymmetric depending on which side you're on. E.g. step backs and pull ups feel very different depending on whether they are to the left or right and the balance involved is significantly different A slight elbow out allows you to keep your chest more square to the basket without extra shoulder strain. I think Coach Drew's form makes it easier to have a consistent base on many off of the dribble/off the move shots because there is less asymmetry in the lower body. This extra consistency may be a bigger benefit than the small inconsistency of an elbow out shooting motion.

Thanks I remember my high school coach was telling us to turn after our shot because Steph Curry does it last summer. Good to know that it is more beneficial for me to finish straight-on.
@yesmymajestybut8984 жыл бұрын
You’re coach is really dumb lol. Just cause Steph does it. Steph does it very good and very consistently but it’s not fundamental, if you can shoot it that way, cool, but practice without.
@richardwu83874 жыл бұрын
I mean just because steph does is doesn’t mean that it will work for you. I mean it works for stephs specific size and form, if your different from steph in that way, you have to have your own jumpshot with your own technique

The problem with the study is people twist a lot to fade away or get away from the defense and typically when they twist it is off the move. When they dont twist they are wide open and it is typically a stand still shot so obviously they will shot higher because it's just an easier shot.
@nas1197-i6j2 жыл бұрын
also some people when they twist it's really obvious that they're gonna do it so it's easy to follow them

Everybody watching this, pls dont shoot with your elbow out like this guy. Bring it in so it’s perpendicular with the ground, your shot will be much more accurate and you wont have to compensate with your wrist and fingers as much. Notice the difference between Curry and Thompson’s shooting form vs. this guy.
@cmack172 жыл бұрын
Your elbow is irrelevant. Your shooting hand should be under the ball. You lift point should be in a position where your wrist extends in a straight line to the rim. Your elbow position is secondary to these two fundamentals. It just so happens that many people's elbows will be more adducted.
@jmtgolf2756 Жыл бұрын
Please don't gave your elbow above your head either... you want your elbow crease to be eye level no higher than forehead on finish

Just sharing you this, as Romans 6:23 says, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. God loves you so much that he sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the price of all our sins. After 3 days after he died,he rose up from the dead. He will accept you not matter what you been through or have done. Accept the lord Jesus Christ as you lord and savior and ask forgiveness of all your sins to be saved from sin and have eternal life and not go to hell Jesus is our only hope for salvation and the if you don’t accept him you will not heaven and you will go to hell if you don’t accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior

Bro I'm really sorry to tell you this but you want your elbow crease to be at EYEISH LEVEL on release AND YOU NEVER BRING THE BALL DOWN ON THE SQUAT... that's too much motion for consistent release... but hey what do I know I only coached Theo Pinson, Wendell moore and 30+ other high school kids that went d1 and 8 overseas
