We made it to the top of the very brutal and rocky Joubert's Pass!
But not without suffering some vehicle damage.
In this episode we assess it and try to fix things up in the bush.
This is the story of a year long LD stay in Namibia..... with you in the passenger seat!
Please let me know what you think in the comments section, I'm always interested to know who enjoys my films, and where your from!

Enjoyed that one 👍 Think in future should tuck a video in on the Land and your setup. Interesting to see how you travel and you look like have a very technical packing system...
@roamingyak
@roamingyak 8 ай бұрын
I will do at some point mate, the packing 'system' is just some Rako boxes, bought so they fit exactly into the Landy load area, with 2 Ali square tubes placed on top so they cant bounce up and down. Easy to push in, easy to pull out, nothing to tie or untie, unbolt, no noisy velcro etc

Nice job on the repair and taking us along for a look. It’s always a worry repairing something, even routine like a leaking cooling system hose while remote given a parts shop, or any spare parts don’t exist in case the unforeseen happens and you end up stranded as a result. Great job on the repair and taking your time to think it through and work out how to tackle it methodically. For someone who’s knows they’re not the best mechanically but still successfully keeps an older vehicle running in remote locations is a compliment to yourself.

It's all part of the adventure, as a famous Lithuanian once said! Well done on the bush repair. I keep a 7mm socket especially for those pesky clamps.

Fair play to mate, to be under the stress of your situation, and still do your camera work. That right there shows your resolve, well done. I've been in a situation with a dodgy alternator, a camera was low on my priority list at that moment haha. I really enjoyed this episode......

Thanks mate! I guess its the nice thing about travelling long term rather than being on a short trip - you have plenty of time to sort everything out without being in a rush to leave, so easier to do both. But many thanks for noticing, it makes travel 3 times harder and time consuming when also filming.

I know how much effort you put in Darrin, the entire process of producing video is difficult and time consuming, from capture to post production. But take solace in that your efforts resonate with people who have travelled the less beaten path, and hopefully those that aspire to, so thank you for sharing you journey.

Is it the curse of Joubert's Pass or just a strange decision of tackling off road with a notorious oil gushing Landy?
@roamingyak
@roamingyak 8 ай бұрын
No oil gushing anywhere mate, it was just a old coolant hose 😀 Please let me know when you have spent 8 years driving your vehicle around 45 countries in Africa though 🤪🤣🤪🤗🤗

Good to see you turning out content again. Sorry for not becoming a patreon, but my hard earned Nam$"s really don"t translate well with any currency, so useless. Toyota?......hell flippen NO!!! You have the best vehicle for the job right there.

Thanks mate. Don't worry, I completely understand and am happy to know that you'd do it if you could comfortably, it gives me hope that I'm doing something right with my films. Keep on trucking in sunny Namibia, and hope to see you on the road one day! Cheers, Darrin
