7:54 it takes an incredible amount of skill to actually produce a stencil, it may not look like it but coming from a stencil artist, it takes weeks to perfect the stencil and make sure everything fits together, most stencil artists start out as writers but get stressed or get caught because of their attention to detail making it take too long, so stencil art is just making it so you can still do a detailed peice but it only takes a second to actually throw up the finished project, no hate intended bro but its best to accept all styles of graffiti, shit changes and all graffiti writers should welcome eachother with open arms!

a little insight into antistyle, i think its important to know where its coming from. it started when the cans got really good in early 2000s in berlin. people were sick of the drill of painting nice and clean pictures following the classic rules and it became easier to paint clean with modern cans, so some writers who actually were style writers abolished the rules and the drill and started painting naive and for fun and giggles. inspired a lot by 70s style and with dusty pocket cap outline to archieve the effect of a trashy can. its kind of form of protest, also people do that in gentrified areas. painting to most ungly non appealing shit to normies, but if you into that dada-istic, naive but yet creative you appreciate the different levels of creativity in painting ugly and then it becomes a proper kinda aestehtic itself. you kinda neeed to deserve to write anti and you have to learn the rules in order to know which one to break to make it and a real anti style

I had no idea using stencil was considered so poorly by graffiti/street artists (Banksy certainly doesn't help)... I was preparing multi layer arts to tag because I wanted my art to reach multiple spots in good quality... Because people tag over each other all the time where I live.

i'd say most of the dislike of stencils is that many arent personalized or made by the artist. it's akin to clip art. if you ARE making your own though then please go for it!!! you have more time to plan the piece and stencils make for quick and easy painting to avoid authority n all

Watch the documentary "PIXO", available here on KZbin, you will have a better background on the origins and how it became what we have today. In Brazilian territory we have different types of graffiti, in São Paulo there is "pixo", in Rio de Janeiro "xarpi" and in the northeast of the country it is completely different. I liked the video and the knowledge, there were several references to use in my next tags.

Raves in Britain in the late 80's / early 90's used to be arranged a bit like that. Some place would get known as the place to get flyers, which would have directions and hints to where it was. I was only a toddler at the actual time, but for some reason years later I dreamed of following a "trail" of laser pointers shone on the ground / walls to find some event in a city.

Here in Brazil we can also see Persona style, with is a type where you draw a character stead of letters, over and over. Where there's 2 subtypes: one color personas and full drawings, the first one being made with only one color, seems a lot like stencil but only with spray.

In the city I live there's a lot of graffiti, old and new. Theres a lot of tags in the suburbs and big pieces downtown and on the Autobahn. It seems theres a few writers around my small suburb who really care, they make big colorful pieces under bridges and such places. But also got some who do tags on people's properties I dont do graffiti myself but I'm really interested and think it can look pretty My family always thinks I'm a bit weird for liking 'vandalism', heh
