Fascinating. Rajaraja and Rajendra Chola both built temples in areas outside their core regions after invading and conquering area, as they did with the Pandya and Anuradhapura territories for example, so it's not surprising that they did the same in the modern Kerala area as well. In the 990s when Rajaraja changed the Chola relationship with the Chera Perumals, who had provided many a royal woman to marry Chola kings in the past, it must've been quite the shock. Having lived most of my life into my twenties walking distance from this temple, it's even more fascinating to connect the dots and learn more of the lore. But unfortunately there's no way the temple is 1800 years old. There were no temples 1800 years ago, especially in the south.

ഒരുപോലെ അഭിമാനവും പിന്നെ സങ്കടവും. ഇത്ര ചരിത്ര പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രം.. വളരെ മികച്ച കൊത്തു പണികൾ.. എന്നാലും...പിന്നെ കാലാന്തരത്തിൽ പറ്റിയ ചെറിയ ക്ഷയം അല്ലതെ വെറെ കേടു പാടില്ല തെ ക്ഷേത്ര ഭാരവാഹികൾ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ.. അത് കൂടാതെ വിദ്യാർത്തികൾക്ക് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രവും അവർക്ക് മുൻപിൽ കൊത്തു പണികളും പരിചയപെടുത്തുന്നതിലും സന്തോഷം. സങ്കടം കേരളാലോത്പതിയോളം പഴകമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു വേണ്ട ഒരു സംരക്ഷണ സംവിധാനം കാണുന്നില്ല.. കാരണം ദൃശ്യങ്ങളിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പല കൊത്തുപണികൾ വളരെ ചരിത്രമായും, കലാപരമായും, സംസ്കാരപരമായും connected ആണ് അവ സംരക്ഷിക്കണം ...

Malayalam language is from malayalam era ie 824AD. Till then we were also an integral part of Tamilakam. Till 11th century it was ven malanadu with Karikode as base which was trifurcated to keezh malanadu, Vadakkancore and thekkumcore. In 1599 Vadakkancore rani adopted the keezhmalanadu prince and moved to Karikode and Karikode remaining as the Vadakkancore capital till 1752 peaceful merger with Travancore .As a mark of respect the king sree Marthandavarma constructed a krishnan kovil on the banks of river neyyar now known as neyyattinkara. The malanadu king known ie malanadu vel is none other than Maveli. Thrikkakara inscriptions says a lot

ഇതിനു സമാന മായ ക്ഷേത്രം ആണ് കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പള്ളി ഗണപതിയാർ കോവിൽ, അത് കുടുംബക്കാരുടെ കൈവശം ആയിരുന്നു, അത് കേസ് കളിച്ചു ബോറിഡിന്റെ കീഴിൽ ആക്കി, പഴയ ക്ഷേത്രസമുചയം പൊളിച്ചു പരമാവധി തനിമ പോകാതെ അവർ മാറ്റി സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.
