1812 - HGUC Sinanju Stein [Narrative Ver.] (OOB Review)

I built the HGUC Sinanju and the Stein is a major improvement in terms of articulation. And you’re absolutely right! Only a bare minimum of the original kit was used to make this version. People complaining it’s a rehash clearly haven’t built it. Awesome review!

dhathor don’t hold your breath. Your best bet would be to kitbash the stein with parts from the old Sinanju to get the better articulation and all that.

Really getting a lot of Char's counterattack vibes from this build: The details on the shield, skirts and the beam rifle and especially the thruster bell galore bagpack with those fuel tanks. The style is very cool and i almost wish that more of the modern UC designs drew inspiration from the nineties suits.

I always wondered why Bandai never molded sleeves parts in white. It's better for painters and straight builders alike. The stickers would only be the black part that would fit snuggly in the sleeve and I would only have to paint the part black and use thinner on the sleeves parts because the bare plastic would be fine.

The rg sinanju may be wobbly but its no hand grenade. Everyone jumped on the hate bandwagon after mecha trashed that kit but when I built mine my only complaint is the wobbly waist. I like mecha's reviews but he treats these kits like robot damashi kits instead of model kits.

I always like the Sinanju. It had such a sexy design and was sort of regal. But I like the more "Gundam-y" look of the Stein and how it's not super colorful or bright. It seems more bulky than the regular Sinanju though, not that is bad.

I feel like a hypocrite because I love Sin Stein because of its color palette, but I hate Unicorn because of its color palette, I think it's boring. Sin Stein does still have more colors and better lines, Unicorn is also stupid blocky

@@gilliganinja To be fair, one kinda expects a Gundam to be eye-catching. Not so much with other MS. I also have a problem in general with full white (and to a lesser extent with other mono-colored) Gundams in that I find most of them boring; the Unicorn is no exception. But I do like me some Tallgese and Sinanju Stein.

I can't tell you how scared I was when I saw that this kit would be re-using the original Sinanju's hip joints. I'm glad they were able to work around it so that the Stein's legs could have full articulation from the hips.

Psps, i tried to combine the extra Axe part with the recently released RG Sazabi and it fits! Loosely, but all it needs is some glue and it'll look awesome with the neon green effect parts along with the brown Axe parts!

I really enjoyed building both this and the Moon, but overall I'd choose the Stein. The colors are gorgeous and both the knee and ankle designs work better and pose a little more naturally than the Moon's. :)

My only complaint is that they didn't allow it to use its beam tonfa feature. It probably wouldn't be to hard to modify somehow, but it would have been cool to have right out of the box. But a very minor complaint for what is otherwise perfection!

No they can't. They're made of soft rubber. The damage is done. You're better off looking for a replacement

Uhh if u stretched it u can usually lightly line the joint with glue or paint to make the fit tighter If it’s ripped u can try to superglue the halves together

I seriously can't decide between the unit 1 in hguc or mg form. Both have their good points and bad points. It's like the reverse of unit 2, whereby the mg nar. feels like the afterthought and the hguc like the main piece while for unit 1 the hguc seems lacking.

Your best bet is to trim the sticker or use water slides which is the superior option if you wanna invest in it.

I love buying an older kit and watching a review of that kit.... just so I can wonder why no one ever mentions a single negative aspect of anything. The seams on this kit are horrible. Many are unnecessary. The seams on the sleeves markings are straight up unacceptable. Bandai can and already had done better. The weird thrusters or vents in the front skirts are molded as a separate piece, even though they're the same color on the same part tree. Unnecessary seam to fix there. The seam on the outer portion of the rifle is also very difficult to sand because of the fine detail it crosses. It's not even centered so I can't turn it in to a panel line without breaking symmetry or trying to scribe another matching line right on a corner edge. There are seams in the forearms, but the elbow's new design makes it impossible to modify like the original HGUC Sinanju. That wasn't a huge problem to cut so it could be painted and glued later. The new polycap attachment means you either live with the seam, or sacrifice the new level of articulation. Good job Bandai. They couldn't even be bothered to include enough pieces for the backs of all the hands. Why even give me more than two if you aren't going to give me enough? If I'm expected to swap them, isn't two enough? Why five when I need six? When it comes to clean up and seam removal, this kit is significantly worse than the original HGUC Sinanju. Which should be unacceptable to consumers considering this is almost 10 years newer. It doesn't even live up the quality of the original, let alone other HGs that came out at the time. Why can't that be mentioned in a review, just for the complete information? I have seen a few reviews praising this kit as some sort of awesome new thing, when it is in many ways worse than the original, and below the standard of other releases at that time. The Dijeh was far, far better and only came out two months later.

Such long legs, such tiny head. ;-) :-\ Look at the cheaper RX-78-02, it has nice proportions. The distance from top of the head to crotch is the same as crotch to the feet and the arms falls just slightly below the hips as they should. The only weird part is the waist is a bit too narrow and could be slightly wider. These late 0080-0090+ mobile suits just look ridiculous with their fins and cylinders and other weird bits that serve no purpose poking out in all directions, imagine trying to store them inside of a mobile suit hangar... buuuut that being said I can see why people would be drawn to those designs, plus they are giant robots so I guess proportions don't matter. Personally I prefer the simple, classic design of the RX-78.

But why? They both have great articulation, great weapon options, large size, and high price point. Moon has the slight edge in more surface detail and the construction of its eyes, but otherwise very comparable.
