My review for the Vivobarefoot Maga Forest esc Trail Boots.
I attempted to complete the Moab 240 Ultra Run by Destination Trail and for the attempt I wore the Vivobarefoot Magna Forest esc.

Thank you Sir! Other reviewers implied that they'd never run in these but I guess you put them to shame by doing the Moab 240 in them. That's all I need to know, getting a pair today, thanks again for the great review!

They do hurt on flat ground though. I’d go with a vivo barefoot primus trail for flatter surfaces

I’ve got the Tracker, which is the higher version of the Magna. Top shoes. You could also use Renapur wax which is supplied which each pair.

Thanks for the review! I need barefoot trekking shoes. Obviously I immediately thought of the Tracker Forest ESCs but reading reviews I found that the metal hook arrangement particularly hurts at one point in the ankle. So now I'm looking at the Magna Forest ESCs. And I have a big doubt about the size. I know they are supposed to be true to size. But I'm afraid that with thick socks and walking for a long time (with the feet getting bigger) the shoes will be tight. But if I take the larger size, I'm afraid it will be too big... On the Primus Trail Knit FG I have 43eu and measuring the foot on the insole I have about 7mm free. If I took the 44 it would be about 15mm free, and that could be dangerous on rough terrain. So I really don't know what to do. Why did you prefer Magna Forests to Tracker Forests? Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply. Putting insoles in did take up extra room yet I was comfortable with Injinji toe socks. I went with Magna Forest because I was worried after all those miles that I might get some rubbing from the more stiff ankle material.

The magna ESG`s have more room than tighter fitting vivo`s like the primus trail knit, so plenty of room to accommodate thick socks in your usual size.

@@harpocrates302 Thanks for this! I have the Primus Trail Knit in EU 44 and was having the same dilemma for getting the Magna ESC. So hypothetically, my order of the EU 44 magna was the right choice! 😂

Do you have other Vivos? Their sizing is all over the place. I’m a 47 in Primus lite 3 and Scott. I’m a 48 in Tracker FG 2. Any thoughts on which size would be best for these? Thanks!!

I'm a smaller size for the Trail FG All Weather and the Addis Desert. I only went up though in case my feet became swollen. Overall they worked perfect.

How do you think these might fare in multiple days of rain?
@northwestelitespirit
@northwestelitespirit 3 ай бұрын
I work, hike, and run in them. I’ve bought more pairs since. I live, work, and train in Washington State so imagine how much rain mine encounter. One issue I’ve been running into is that I forage and the laces constantly get caught on brush and come untied. If you aren’t rummaging around in the brush though, you should be good to go.

Great review! I'm looking for something that would be warm in the colder months with cold rain and snow. Something I could use daily for all casual things. Do you think these would be a good fit for that?

I am looking off a good all year round hiking boot. They seem great with the cold but are they ok in hot summers and for some road walking?
@northwestelitespirit
@northwestelitespirit 10 ай бұрын
They are great all year around. On concrete and asphalt, the knotty traction can be hard on the feet until the tread wears down a little. The more weight, the more pressure at those knots. Eventually they became very comfortable even on asphalt and concrete.

For me, yes. My feet never got too hot or too cold. I wore Injinji toe socks with them. Thick socks for the cold, thinner socks for the heat.

the magna FGs i got a while ago were mens US size 9 and ended up being too big on me, had to return them - their insoles were 27.9 cm long rather than 26.6 cm like the sizing guide said they should be. do the forest ESCs fit large as well?
@northwestelitespirit

I would say they fit a little big. I like it in case of swelling. Mine aren't uncomfortably over sized.

@@northwestelitespirit I ended up getting a new pair of magna forest ESCs in mens US size 8 and they fit great, about the same length and width as my size 9 Splay Freestyles. really liking them so far. btw, do your magnas make a floppy sound at all? mine do if i spring off my back foot with my toes while walking, but idk if it's because the shoes are a tad too big or if they just need to be broken in more
@dannyus007

Hi, I just got the same shoes and while they are good size (US11) the wool collar feels like it is loose around the leg. Is it the same for you or does it fit snugly? Like when I am standing still I have roughly 5mm gap all around my ankle. I was thinking about downsizing to US10, since I have over 15mm space in the front of the shoe, but I am not sure..
@northwestelitespirit
@northwestelitespirit 2 жыл бұрын
Mine feel a little loose at the collar too but nothing has gotten in if that is your concern. Running so far I go a little larger than my foot for if any swelling happens. I haven't had any swelling yet though.

Is this shoe also good for the city?
@northwestelitespirit
@northwestelitespirit Жыл бұрын
I would say no, (at first.) When I first got them, the chunky knobs in the tread would put a lot of pressure on small parts of my foot and make them very sore. After wearing them down quite a bit they became very comfortable in the city.

I’ve just now had to get new trail shoes. I’ve attempted 200 mile races, trained all year for 200 mile races, worked in them on roofs and other construction, worn them for everything I do and recently ran 200 miles in The Gifford Pinchot National Forest, then 100 miles on The Pacific Crest Trail. They still have a little tread on them. My feet still don’t get wet. Oh yeah, my puppy chewed on them too and they were still good. Extremely durable.
