This is too funny to me that after rendering down A LOT of beef tallow yesterday I woke up this morning thinking I should try beef tallow lotion! Winter in MN, my dry skin, perfect solution. So I search it and of course there's Rachel with a recipe for me!! Oh there were others too, but for me I smiled and I knew I would try your recipe first! You're the best Rachel!

I think using tallow/lard is the best natural most gentle oil for your skin, because alot of other oils need a preservative or a thickener which then needs water which then causes bacteria and most of those preservatives is a chemical compound and this is what i also use to make my lotions and whipped body butters, trying to avoid any chemicals and I think using tallow is the safest way without having to worry if it's going to go back or melt becoming a liquid. NO worries with this one.

Plus, we're red meat animals. Its the best thing and our skin knows what to do with it.💚
@ghettocountry86782 жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure about how or if anyone ever harms an animal to get it but with all the economic companies already slaughtering more than what we'd needed. But usually so much tallow/lard would go to waste & it's all natural meaning comes from where we do also, so I think of it like this so it doesn't hurt my heart when I think of those animals, because it's still gonna be there if I use it or not...only down side of it, but it meshes well with our skin because its the closest...

Okay, so since I know I am very sensitive to the smell of pig lard that gets an off smell once it has been sitting around too long, does beef tallow get a smell too after it has sat out awhile? I feel like leaving a big amount out on the counter for a couple months that it would get an off smell. What r ur thoughts on that?

I started making tallow for my face for a couple months now. I have a scar on top of my lip from my dog swinging his head around and my tooth went through my lip.... but one thing I've noticed is my scar is shrinking!!! It's less then half then what it was.

I'm almost embarrassed to even post this comment. The tallow scent was too overwhelming for me so I added ALOT of Essential oils. I do want to say, I love the idea of tallow because of the healthy skin benefits. Anyhow, now I'm finding out that too much Essential oils are bad for the skin. Have you experienced this with essentials? Now I'm scared to use the product or gift it. Maybe I can make a new batch and mix the first with the second to dilute the Essential oil.

Hello! Does it stay like this or does it eventually meltdown or does it end up getting hard? Hope that makes sense. I made a shea butter whipped body butter but it ended up becoming very hard. Use any oil. Just think about absorption. I used avocado and then jojoba. The jojoba absorbs the best, ime. Costs a bit more but great on the face. I infused my oil for six weeks with various herbs (dry rosehips, calendula, etc) and it brings it over the top. The calendula got rid of my psoriasis. I knew it works but am amazed every time it does😂
