Great episode, I love collecting pre-decimal British coppers, I have an extensive collection(1799-1901) of Pennies, Half Pennies, and Farthings going back to George III, but my most favorite are the Queen Victoria ones, and most prominent ones in my collection, I especially love the younger years of the Queen 1839-1860 (aka Young head) she look so graceful on them. from a coin collector across the pond to an other. my your collection grow bigger and keep you always excited.

fantastic video - im obsessed with victoria coins but i have to say i had never seen the ship before (probably because all my coins are worn) - i did but the agatha christie coin in the bunc pack just because she’s my mums favourite author. i’m going to look at my victorias now and try and find the ship!

The Latin actually says "Queen of the Brittons", the word "all" (Omn. on other coins) isn't actually on there. I'm not sure why though. Maybe a video on the (slight) changes of the text over time would be interesting? 😉

What a penny would buy you in 1890 compared to 1971? Well you could still "spend a penny" pre-decimalisation but you need more to make a call in a phone box.

Do you think it’s feasible that the 1895 penny lost its lighthouse & ship’s due to wear and tear on a penny?

@@CoinPatrol on some very worn pennies the lighthouse & the ship are hard to determine through wear & tear. Of course when it was as new that wouldn’t be the case, but with the pennies surviving nearly 111 years in circulation, it may have been a consideration

Ah, I see, but no the Lighthouse and the ship were removed from the reverse design from 1895 onwards, If you find a veil head Victoria penny with either then it will be worth a fortune!
