How do you see these hairstyles and then figure out their architecture? Deconstructing the look is pretty amazing.

When you do this a while, you start to understand how you can make certain shapes physically with hair without seeing the process. And then with videos like these I always do a bit of historical research to see what the techniques might have been at the time, and then use that or modernize some spots (like the hair tie) to make it easier for self-styling.

I've been binging your videos lately since I have long hair for the first time in maybe a decade. Part of the trouble of being a tomboy is I have no idea how to style hair, but I love that your tutorials often are heat-free and usually the main tools you use are just your hands. It's tricky, but as someone who has literally never even used a hair dryer but has used a loom (no, really), this is more on my wavelength lol!

@@silvousplaits I had to google that, because the first thing I thought of was those owl wall hangings. Which would be a look, don't get me wrong.

That’s so much for this! I’m costuming a play that’s 18th century and this tutorial is perfect and easy enough for everyone to follow!

I have been doing a modern version of this for a while. I section the hair horizontally behind my ears and make a loose bun with the top. Then I take the bottom and pull that into a low side ponytail. I have naturally wavy hair that is pretty thick and dense so I can get a very similar shape without curling. I was calling it my Marie Antoinette. I'm gonna add a ribbon 👍

Thank you for this tutorial. I am always looking for new random things to do with my hair, and I decided to do 18th century chic with my Outlander fandom dress today (modern, not cosplay). It was an excellent tutorial and so clear that I did it along with you without a mirror and it only needed minor adjustments when I did get to a mirror! Thank you!

As a fine haired girl, I appreciate that you don't use extensions in every video. I love extensions and I don't have any issues with them, however, I do think that finer hair types need more representation. I feel like it's very much so thought that the thicker the hair the better, but I think that fine hair can be beautiful as well x
