I found your channel because I love history. I taught living history1840 life skills for many years. I would still be teaching but I can't do the hard work outside all day, everyday any more. I still use those skills and my great Grannies would be very comfortable in my home. I not only use the same type of tools they used but in large part, I use their own tools to produce the same meals, card wool and cotton for spinning and I eat every meal at my great grand parent's table. When I see new gadgets that everyone is using, I think "how would I get the same results if I was an 1840 farm wife" and that's how I do the task. Your channel is so pleasing to watch. I have subscribed and look forward to catching up on all of your videos.

I like to ferment mine. Just add the pickles to a jar with water, salt, sugar, coriander seeds, dill, and black peppercorns and leave it out at room temperature for a few days to ferment. You will need to de-gas the container everyday, then once its sour enough, you refrigerate it. Good prebiotic.

Great video Kayla. So nice to hear your voice and listen to all the details you've investigated with such love. I'll definitely try to add nutmeg and ginger next year to my pickles. In Russia we use black currant and cherry leaves to obtain the crunchiness. This year I've tried the terragon for the first time. The result is absolutely amazing! I know that even oak leaves can be used for that purpose. A lot to try! Looking forward to the next video 💗

Loved the video! If you spend more time on KZbin (if you feel it’s worth the effort), I wouldn’t complain. My partner’s stepdad makes his own pickles, but he does the whole canning process and that sounds intimidating. 😵‍💫 Your method sounds pickler beginner friendly and I’m curious what all the herbs and such do for the flavor.

Thank you! I hot water bath can pickles, but I just never love the flavor as much as when they’re cold processed. The hot water bath pickles are great for making tartar sauce, though!

I am new here and think you are a kind and cool lady. I really liked this video. I have tried to make pickles in the past and have not been too successful and hope that your lesson today will help me improve. I know it sounds odd, but I don't like cucumbers at all, but I love pickles. haha. Awful about the plagiarized recipe.

Thank you! I hope that this video helps with your pickles. And I totally get it!! 😂 Also more just interesting than anything, I think, about the plagiarism. It’s so old at this point it really doesn’t matter!
