I used my ancestry subscription to search for Martha Clemment. There’s actually very few hits relating someone with that name, and only one marriage in the 1700s. This was between Martha Clemment and John Chitty which took place on 26 Apr 1789 at St George, Hanover Square, London. Hope this helps!

Hi, I’m afraid it’s Clement with one m. The chances are she will be in the Belfast area, as I know the engraver is a local one. Thanks for looking.

Not a glass expert, but enjoy the channel. Do not wish to cause offence but can we be certain the engraving on the 1st decanter is contemporary to the late 18th century date? It seems to posses a rather naive quality about it. Find in my old age i am becomming a questioning sceptical old dog.

@@eddieharris6004 actually the quality of the engraving is not too bad. The quality of Irish glass from that period is generally terrible and the engraving not genius. If it was done to a high standard I would be worried. My other Belfast ones are of a similar quality, plus all those from the other glass houses, plus they look equally bad in the books. There will be another in part two, and the quality is no better. I will try to explain it a bit more in the video.
