I’m going to be doing more of these side by side comparisons later. Please feel free to comment any suggestions or requests on products you would like me to sample!!

Question: did you put any in the oven to cure? If so did you spray the coasters 1st or after

I recommend using a Tack Cloth on your products before applying any clear coat or you'll keep getting those bubbles and spots when you spray. The bubbles and spotd are residue on the surface that won't let the clear coat adhere to. You can find Tack cloths at home depot and Lows, its a semi sticky yellow cotton cloth that cleans and picks up any residue on your product so its ready for clear or paint. Nice comparisons !

Omg… are you mansplaining her ?🤣😂🤣 I appreciate the attempt in this video but boy did she skip so much. Not the most informative . I’ll prolly get banned for criticizing a females video but this I similar to an AOC video where she’s just recording herself saying dumb shit. So actually your video was higher up on the IQ charts than her but still not the most informative . How did you set up your project so that all projects were giving equal treatment ? I will watch more videos and give ya a fair shot . After all, you are putting forth the effort and I appreciate you sharing knowledge .

Great tip! Although I think that they might have gotten a bit too cold the day they were first sprayed and that might have contributed to the bubbles but did not get them on all. 🤷♀️

LOL, Fred! Im just using trial and error, and filming as I go so I can remember what I have used and what worked and what didn't for me and hopes it might help someone else. I did not show how I sprayed them, as I just followed directions on the cans as they were all different. But they were all sprayed on the same day within a few minutes of each other for the first coat at least. maybe for future. I will be hopefully returning to show a side by side of Resin for coasters, hope to have the chance to film soon.

Thanks for sharing this video! I made some coasters with decoupage technique. I sealed the surface with Mod Podge for 4-5 times. After one week, I used Dupli-Color Varnish and let the tiles to cure for a week. Then when I put a very hot mug on the tile, it didn't stick but there was a deep circle. Could you please tell me what the problem was?

Thank you for doing these. Looking for future tests especially since that winning Diamond coat is so expensive.

I recently did my first set of coasters using the duplicolor with 2 coats. I was thinking of using several coats of Krylon Triple Thick and then add 2 coats of Duplicolor on top instead of using more coats of duplicolor.

Did you put any in the oven to cure?
@deborahgauvin444 жыл бұрын
I would check them again in another 4 weeks. They are dry in a week but they will continue to harden for a long time. The dimples look like marks left from silicone, like when Michele flicks it on. Not sure if that has anything to do with the dimples on yours though.

Deborah Gauvin Definitely will re test . Will be doing some more side by sides with a few other products as well!
@abstractanneliese69504 жыл бұрын
Definitely no silicone! Also I will be testing resins side by side later if you want to request or suggest a favorite!
@doriskilbane60893 жыл бұрын
Eager to see what sealant/final coat you come up with since I too am looking for something that will seal coasters that won't end up with a hot mug sticking to the tile coaster.

I used the triple glaze one on metal and it left a texture behind, kind of very tiny bumps... any recommendations on how to avoid this from happening?? I cleaned the surfaces with alcohol to ensure there was no oils.
@abstractanneliese69503 жыл бұрын
Tiny bumps are bubbles usually I have also got bumps or bubbles if it is too cold or if I do too thick of a layer. Overall not a fan of the triple glaze spray for hard surfaces. Will have resin video review done soon too.

How long did you let the coasters dry/cure before spray varnishing
@abstractanneliese69503 жыл бұрын
More than a month
@matyasnoemi87683 жыл бұрын
How long dried before using spray? I let my coaster dry 2 days and after using engine spray the mugs left circle print on it (deep)
@gillyb448 ай бұрын
Uneven spraying causes these problems. Spray thinner coats.

Krylon triple thick is my favorite for finishing canvases. Sorry to see it doesn't work for coasters..🥺

Tinna Marie yes , I have it for rocks, but I haven’t tried it on canvas, I love my liquitex gloss varnish! ❤️

Did you use silicone on your paints?
@abstractanneliese69503 жыл бұрын
Yes I did. I cleaned them a few times during the time waiting for them to cure before doing the tests

0:53 that one when I make a cup it’s become drinkable or not ?

Sorry it didn't work out did you send down before you applying your spray?and sand down between coats?
@abstractanneliese69502 жыл бұрын
No I did not sand them down as I did not want to sand off the paint that was on them, trying to preserve the pain for future coasters. 😉
