The photo of Maude Adams is 1905, the Edwardian era, when she played Peter Pan on Broadway. She was mainly an early 20th century actress than Victorian., unless you want to count her childhood in Salt Lake City.

I have to say that the young lady at 1:31 doesn't seem to be of the same era as all the other photos. She looks too modern with her hair, eyebrows, head band and flowers in her hair.

She's an "Easter egg". If I copy this video and try to pass it off as my own, the true author of the video can prove that I stole it because it contains an image of a woman who's not from that era, but was created by the author.

@@ymdslf Female models for a long time have typically been young (teenagers to mid 20s). Not to say there aren't older ones but yeah the focus is on youth.

Robert J Williams Me too. She looks “modern” like she is a famous actress, yet she has been deceased for some 90-100 years! Would be interesting to know a little of her life.

These women were all young and beautiful especially 1:31, but they all seamed to share a sense of dread about them, none of them were smiling.

I’m not saying some of them were not suffering, but if you look at all the old photographs, people look like they are depressed. Almost no one smile’s.

Although the necessity for long exposures while taking the photograph plays a role, smiling on portraits was considered rude and silly. The frowned woman at 1:03 is Isabel II of Spain, and she was well known for her taste for parties and sex. During the Victorian era appearances were paramount.

They didn’t smile back then in their photographs, because they were told to look natural. I know it was crazy!
