I have a photograph of my Spanish grandma, with her 3 girls and 1 little boy (my father) standing by the freshly dug grave of my grandfather, who died at only 33. She was a wonderful lady. I miss her to this day.

What a sensational grouping of Victorian era photographs! In my opinion, these types of pictures are ultimate art. I especially liked the smiling photos. We're so interesting because we're all the work of the Creator.

Death and mourning was such a regular occurrence back then, with the loss of children and the lower life expectancy. Some of the women in these photos are beautiful, even in sepia. The girl at 7.24 was gorgeous.

The reason no one smiled was because the aperture of the lens had to stay open for a long period of time. Smiling would have resulted in blurry photos.
