It is interesting that Eminence in Shadow went the opposite direction than Kizumonogatari. In Monogatari Araragi is told that since he has superhuman strength and speed he has little use for martial arts that were developed so weak people could fight stronger or armed opponents. The Dark Knights use magic mostly to enhance their physical abilities so earth's martial arts that Cid know should not necessarily make him the better fighter but common sense has no place here. Also, it is stated in the novels that the Dark Knights job is to fight monsters but other than the slimes and the cult members that mutatesd Cid doesn't fight monsters until Vol. 4 and those weren't monsters native to this new world that the DK would normally fight.

You have a great point! Actually, in Cid's New World, fighting techniques heavily rely on the use of magic and speed; that's part of the reason Cid thinks they are inferior to the ones he learned in his past world, where people also had to consider how to defend themselves from incoming attacks and invent techniques dedicated to it. In his New World, people don't train their defensive capabilities because they don't need to. Their main fighting style is basically "hit and run," which, based on their perspective, is the best way to fight.

@@AnimeStatsSama I'm pretty sure he edited the techniques from his old world to fit with his new capabilities in the new world, otherwise with the extreme increase on power, speed and durability, the old world's techniques would become sloppy as fuck.

Fun fact: The story Cid concocted to Alpha ep 1 about the descendant was kinda based on the already existing fairytales and legends that already exist in the new world. The Cult of Diablos was all original. So he didn't actually fully bullshit his way through it all. Lol (Could also be wrong as it has been a year now since I read the ln)

To be fair most of the Seven Shadow, with one exception, are smarter that Cid in some field or another like literature or learning to play more than one thing in the piano. Also, due to Cid being constantly surrounded by pretty girls he has stated he would prefer a less attractive girl, maybe with some scars.

@@martinratagris I don't really know about that, he is a expert at several forms of combatives, and has a high proficiency with the piano, as well as a highly proficient skillet when it comes to espionage. While this is partly due to luck he has to be rather proficient to roll with the punches as he does

@@fearthefunnyman1201 yes, Cid is, if nothing else a master in terms of fighting ability. And yes, he has practiced playing the piano for years but he ever only perfected his Moonlight Sonata. He himself has stated he is mediocre with other pieces. As for espionage and acting, he constantly fails to keep his Mob persona, what with Alexia and Iris taking an interest at him. He acted well enough during the torture/interrogation but that is due to his pain tolerance which he developed along with his fighting skills. When he took the fake Shadow Garden on the school he used mostly his superior physical abilities and magically enhanced senses which took the disguised cult members by surprise because the relic should have negated any enemy's magic but Cid is not normal. I will not mention his scheme to falcify money since that is spoilers for the second season but his covert skills are as underdeveloped as he claims this new world martial arts are.

But for him it was roleplay, pain is something he is used to and doesn't bother him much. He does kill those corrupt guards that tortured him like the next episode with a carefree smile so they got their just desserts.
