Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it! I think yours was a great attempt. The reason it didn’t win was it already had quite a strong personality with the lemongrass and ginger whereas perfume bases are meant to be neutral the make different perfumes out of. However, I think you could make a lovely perfume out of it so I wish you the best in developing it further.

My favorite scent: a lovely blend of limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene, linalool and humulene, a few nice fruity esters and creamy lactones with a pinch of skunk extract.

RE Amber Care Base: Amber Core meanwhile got restricted to 1.3% by IFRA, meaning this base could only be used up to 50% of a formula when the fragrance cincentration is in th EdC to lower EdT region.

You're correct, the base was constructed just before the new IFRA hit. Have to change the max percentage after that.

A post below reminded me of a problem that now and then arrises when copying a formulation. The formula "Oceanic Perfume Base" for instance tells me to use 15% Galaxolide. I however don't have pure Galaxolide. Instead I have Galaxolide 50% in DEP I could simply double the amount to 30% "Galaxolide 50% in DEP" but then the total percentage adds up to 115% (100% Ingredients + 15% DEP) What's the correct way to deal with such a situation?

If you make the whole formula at 10%, you could use your 10% dilutions of all raw materials to make it and so no need to worry since you can make a 10% dilution of galaxolide from your 50%

@@sammacer That's one of the benefits of pre-diluting all ingredients to 10%. You are a big fan of that, I know :-) I do it too (learned from you), but sometimes I want the undiluted form which gives me the 'This is the pure stuff' feeling.

Hey Sammy sir I really appreciate your content. I’m trying to start my perfumery business but I am Muslim and I cannot use alcohol. Can you make an example of how to make a perfume or something like that with glycerin instead of alcohol cause I’ve done that before but I want to know how I can do it more effectively, please and thank you I appreciate it. I hope you have a great day man. I’ve been trying to try to find out ways but self studies isn’t enough. I need somebody who is smarter than me.

Am sick of this perfumery thing I just don’t get the numbers side of it all those formulas shown what do they even mean

The formulas document the amount of each oil you need to reproduce the perfume. If you want to reproduce, modify, analyse it and/or understand what makes the perfume smells the way it does you have detail documentation of the formulation. You also can understand how different ingredients interact and how much it affects the overall smell by looking the amounts and proportions on each oil.

Dear Mr. Sniper, the percentages are an abstract representation of a whole. Out of 100 - though sometimes you will see out of 1,000 - Which is to account for more precision without using too many decimal places. But here it is mostly percentages (meaning out of 100). So what you will need to do is replace those percentages with a unit of measurement for weight. For example let us take the base from the video “Oceanic Perfume Base” - the formula is this: 57% Hedione 15% Galaxolide 10% Dihydro myrcenol 8% Cis-3-hexenyl salicylate 4% Helional 3.7% Fixateur 505E 1% Ambrocenide 0.3% Oakmoss absolute Now you will need to determine how much you want to make. For simplicity’s sake, let us just plan to make 10 grams of the base. So follow these steps: 1.) Divide the percentage by 100. 2) Then multiply by the amount of the total weight you are going to create (10grams in this case) So for the first material in the base we have hedione at 57%. Divide by 100. Which gives us 0.57 - multiply that by 10(grams) which gives us 5.70 grams. Here is the formula for 10grams of this base. - 5.70 grams of Hedione - 1.50 grams of Galaxolide - 1.00 grams of Dihydro myrcenol - 0.80 grams of Cis-3-hexenyl salicylate - 0.40 grams of Helional - 0.37 grams of Fixateur 505E - 0.10 grams of Ambrocenide - 0.03 grams of Oakmoss Absolute
